How to spread the word about WOT?

How do we attract new users? What groups do you think should be targeted? How do we spread the word?

Fri Nov 7 16:32:57 2008 – cod headif wot created a downloadable printed information leaflet about who we are and what we stand for.perhaps some of us with printers could download said leaflets and post them to local schools and universities on your behalf.in the hope the head teachers of such establishments could then inform there pupils of your product.after all we are in the child protection business.

Sat Nov 8 00:35:37 2008 – BobJamFor those of us working on the PC's of others . . . I do as a hobby and not professionally, but I know there are shop owners and retail consultants here . . . we can certainly introduce WOT to the users. I did so recently, and the guy liked it.
I'm not suggesting we try to "force" it on others, but rather show it to them and show them how it works. Most people, at least in my experience, and especially novices, react favorably. The guy that I recently showed it to basically said "Wow", and wanted to learn more and have me install it on his system.
BTW, good idea cod head. You seem to have become a true believer since the days of questioning the virtues of donations . . . glad you saw the "light" . . . my compliments on your willingness to listen.
And YoKenny has a good idea too. For those of us that participate on a lot of other forums . . .I do . . . we can spread the word there (and I have). And I'm sure others do too, like YoKenny has.
Brochure ummm

I haven't been working on it much recently since it's not on my radar screen, but I think I can finish it if I continue working However, you are probably doing something through pdf which would be accessible to more people

I've mentioned this once already but I'll mention it one more time. Firefox makes money and helps get advertised by selling hats, t-shirts, stickers, etc all with Firefox printed on them. Perhaps WOT can do something like this as well.

Mon Nov 10 07:18:04 2008 – Deborah S.I remember your suggestion, and we have talked about having a sticker. I really like the idea and will continue to push for it. On a few sites, I have seen that they give pre-made stickers away for various reasons, and they have an option for printing too . If I had a sticker, I would put it on my laptop, clarinet case, suitcase, etc., so I think it would work.
I can think of cute t-shirts too. Maybe something like the WOT logo and one of the symbols saying "I have a _________ reputation." There would be fill in the blank choices of excellent, good, unsatisfactory, poor or very poor. lol. Just a thought...

Thu Nov 13 14:13:11 2008 – greyfoxsyluxin addition for the advertising WOT via recommendations, brochures, etc. why not create a forum signature as well? It could show your user statistics such as rating, the forum's ratings, etc. etc. I browse 3-4 forums and for those who are also forum-crazy and like fancy graphical signatures, i think adding WOT with a forum sig works too.
Could you use a WOT badge?
Fri Nov 14 08:09:19 2008 – Deborah S.It might not be exactly what you're thinking about, but can you use one of the WOT badges? We have static and dynamic badges that anyone can use on their blog or website. The dynamic one shows the rating of the page itself and link to the scorecard.

As of this date we have made over 1000 comments and we've only been a member since early September, 2008. What I find great about this site is the fact that when users have the plugin installed, they are warned of potential dangerous sites.
Thanks to the wonderful team at WOT for putting out a wonderful service to the public that allows the public to contribute to this cause.
