Google Chrome Extensions beta released

Google Chrome Sami and I had the pleasure of attending the Google Chrome Extensions event at the Googleplex in Mountain View tonight. The browser add-ons beta launched yesterday with about 300 extensions. During the presentation, Erik and Aaron, software engineers from the Chrome team, showed us how easy it is to build a working extension in about 5 minutes. Erik said that the number of extensions was already up to 480, and they expected to reach 500 tonight.

WOT is available for Chrome beta. You can download it from Google Chrome Extensions. Please rate it and leave a comment too. Thanks!

    Third Party Cookie Issues?

I was having initial issues profile wouldn't stick and always reset.... All seems well now on current dev build.. Related to third party cookies I guess since I block them in all browsers..

On a side note is WOT still using third party cookies? Why is this again?

    Peace

      Re: Third Party Cookie Issues?

We have never used third party cookies and we don't use cookies for settings. You're probably remembering the issue with Firefox where you had to have third party cookies enabled or the add-on couldn't see cookies at all. This was related to changes in Firefox's cookie interfaces and we worked around it a long time ago. Actual third party cookies were never used.

Anyway, if the Chrome add-on's profile resets when you restart the browser, it's because you either cleared the add-on's local storage or the browser failed to save it. It seems that Chrome's current beta release clears the local storage for extensions too when you clear your browsing history, which is a bit strange, because that's probably not what most users want. I'm sure this issue will be addressed in future Chrome releases.

WOT not working for Chrome Extension

I have to Google Chrome dev 4.0.266.0, I was astonished when I heard that I can now have add-on of WOT in my Chrome because I've been using it for my FF, and it's really amazing! but, when I tried installing it in Goggle chrome extensions the install button is not working because it doesn't respond, and I also don't see any comments or ratings there, then I tried searching it here if there is any updates, and saw that I can also download it at CNET (http://download.cnet.com/Web-of-Trust-for-Google-C..., I tried downloading it and already installed it but still its not working. Can you please help me with this? thank you.

Re: WOT not working for Chrome Extension

It sounds like the Chrome Extensions page isn't loading completely for you. There's a direct download link on the wiki page if reloading the page and waiting a bit longer for it to finish loading doesn't solve the problem.

      Re: Jay

Go to Advanced settings and make sure you don't have the colorblind accessible user interface enabled.

    Chrome

Now its time for a change. People are using FireFox because of its Addon but after Chrome released i must say people would prefer Chrome and its extensions. Really google have done a great job as we know Chrome takes less resources of OS.

    Finally! But I think I'll

Finally! But I think I'll just stick with the dev channel anyway, as it's pretty stable for me now. Good to know there's a beta build to fall back on if a dev build would cause problems though. The only reason why I still prefer Firefox and Safari over this is because of the way google chrome scrolls while using the macbook trackpad or magic mouse. It just doesn't feel the way it should be.
