    I'm sure you meant downloading music legally. I would certainly try Amazon's DRM-free MP3 Downloads, if only they would sell outside the US.

    You won't find a completely free AND legal service that gives you all of the most popular songs available today. Why not try an Internet radio site such as Pandora?
    (Free download sites that are legal, such as c|net's, typically only have independent artists, etc.)
