you get them by visiting sites and rating them peter.when you visit a site you click on the wot circle and a rating card pops down and you rate it on things like is it child friendly.is it free from spyware and other nasties.and how you yourself found the site.trying not to be biased or prejudiced.also by putting posts on the forum as you just have.its obvious you want t participate and am sure you will soon have lots of points.also the points seem to go on your card once a day so you have to give it a bit of time to work through.
Primarily by rating sites, as cod head mentioned. Or by any other activity, like posting in the forum, commenting the blog, suggesting new ideas to improve WOT, inviting friends to join, etc...
PS: I think there's an intro video somewhere that demonstrates how to use WOT,
Mayby Sami can remind us where it's located..?
You an also find an answer to this question in the November Inside MyWOT newsletter. Plus an explanation of the confidence value, which can be a little confusing. See page 5, Ask WOT.
It goes rookie (blue), bronze, silver, gold, platinum. You can see how many points are required for each at:http://www.mywot.com/blog/90-new-community-page
Rating is of course the primary activity, but you can also post:
In WOTs forum and blog, your own and other peoples profile board,
and finally WOTs Google Group. Plus you can invite others to join...
As others have said, the primary way is by rating websites. Commenting on websites, making forum posts, and inviting a friend to WOT, are all other ways to increase it as well
I believe the reference to United Universe forums and the URL are JirachiFan's Signature.
Note to staff:
Idea.
place Signatures in a CSS container with a lightly shaded background.
this would visually separate the SIG from the message of the post.
If the ability were offered, it would be easy to select from a "color list" via user profile.
A "box" color with a separate border color...
My personal preference would be a light gray box with a blue border :-)
Custom Signatures are "a personal touch" and so should the color choice be.
Naturally the shades of color would be very light pastels so as not to contrast the Site's layout.
A good example of Yellow (box and border) would be the color used for a post preview container. Notice the border is slightly "stronger" than the text area.
When you add a forum/blog comment, your signature is already a part of the comment form. This way you can remove your signature from the comment if you want. The downside of this is that we can't change the signature's color/font or anything as it is just text in the comment. Sorry about this, but there's nothing we can do.
you can not edit the template (Drupal - right?) to place the signature into a DIV with a simple background-color: #F0FFFF ? Then if no text is entered it is simply an empty DIV and no background color is displayed (changed).
The method does not work. We could trivially add or tags around the signature, but since most html tags are filtered out form comment it wouldn't work.
It is possible to separate signature from the comment and then style it differently. If we do this then old comments would have two signatures and I think it's not so nice. I can't promise that we make the change but I will investigate how it could be done.
It depends on your rank. For example, if you are a bronze level member and you comment on a site, you get x points. But if you are a platinum level member, you get x-y points, as the system is logarithmic.
The higher you get, the more difficult it will be to increase it.
As for inviting friends...I'm not so sure about whether it increases your activity points. Someone help?

Re: Agreeing
Wed 31 Dec 2008 09:57:12 AM UTC — SamiJust click the "I agree" button on the scorecard comment.
Why not..?
Thu 01 Jan 2009 02:19:59 PM UTC — phantazmSami: "No, agreeing to comments doesn't affect your activity score."
Why not? I've always thought that comments happen in two ways:
1. Write a comment, if nothings been said yet
or write a comment to add an important aspect.
2. Click "I agree", if someone else already worte my opinion.
Why clutter comments with lots of duplicate entries...?
PS: Maybe "I agree" is a simpler activity then writing comments,
and therefore adds fewer points, But still deserves more than zero...
agreeing
Fri 13 Feb 2009 05:53:24 PM UTC — joshuavillwobut agreeing does make their comment have more weight on the little bars.

Redesign?
Tue 17 Feb 2009 03:09:17 AM UTC — FlyAquaDoes that mean you cannot change your signature for current posts?
Maybe some minor code changes could help here...
Re: Redesign
Tue 17 Feb 2009 07:24:41 AM UTC — TimoYes, you are right. If you change your signature it does not change old forum/blog posts signature. We might change this behavior in future.
In the scorecard comments the signature does change when changed in profile page.
