    ScamChecker.com ?

ScamChecker.com looks to be a fake scam reporting website from the television like appearance. I decided to do some digging and ran across this blog.

    scamcheckerbeware

    Thoughts?

    * Link fixed.

    RE: ScamChecker.com ?

I haven't looked in detail but that looks really... seedy.

    Check out their neighbourhood:
    http://www.robtex.com/dns/scamchecker.com.html
(though it isn't a crime to share nameservers/space with porn sites)

Some of their categories are pretty unsettling too:
    Pedophiles
    Violent people
    Adulterous
    Worst school principal

Are these even 'scams' anymore? Their over the top hardsell approach puts my teeth on edge.

On their contact page they have a link to their 'Verified Business Program', which just leads to an unsecured directory (hxxp://vbp.scamchecker.com)

According to this (unverified) blog posting they are extorting people to remove listings:
    hxxp://scamcheckerbeware.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/warning-scamchecker-com-is-a-criminal-extortion-scam-total-proof-2/

I thought they were these guys for a moment, but apparently not:
    hxxp://www.scamchecker.net/

    EDIT-
Gets weirder, I google mapped the address from the blog posting above and there isn't a company even vaguely related to something like Scam Checker there.

    EDIT EDIT-
wait, is the guy in the video DR. NUMB???
    hxxp://www.drnumb.com
Both had the same whois registrar email address and Dr. Numb is at the same physical address as reported in the blog post.

    Last EDIT-
    Dr Numb's shareasale aff link:
    hxxp://www.shareasale.com/shareasale.cfm?merchantID=22878

Electronic cigarettes and numbing cream. If the two are linked things aren't looking good.

I also found a lot of complaints in Google Cache about 'Shinsachi Media' (the domain registrar address) that are not in the 'live' index, which is strange.

After reading the ScamChecker Facebook page I am determining this "service" to be a scam. Please rate accordingly.

What did you see on there? I'm finding it really confusing; I don't know if people are saying ScamChecker is a scam, or if they're reporting other scams on the facebook page.

They are saying pretty much the same thing. The names mentioned change but the replies allude to the person or persons behind this website are crooks. The Whois records don't have any direct contact either. Only a Fax number. And it only lists a Gmail address.

    RE: ScamChecker.com ?

It's a link farm which uses high shock-value keywords in meaningless spam posts to attract web traffic. Hint 1 - these nonsense posts contain multiple links to scam sites. These external sites should also be rated.

Site owners, and/or some unsuspecting visitors, contribute sensible posts which have no effect other than to add enough coherence to make the site appear more legitimate. Hint 2 - these posts typically contain no links. Rather like the inverse of people spamming legitimate sites.

And of course, if you want to contribute, you must provide your email address.

    RE: ScamChecker.com ?

I'm not saying these guys are the same, but this is another scam checking company I couldn't really get a handle on. I posted about them back in Aug/Sept I think:
    http://www.mywot.com/en/forum/15852-scambook-com

    http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/scambook.com

Does anyone have any experience/pros/cons? I'm not saying they're equivalent to scamchecker, but I just got a similar feeling to the OP when I first came across it.

    Check this out. http://www.scamreviewproduct.net/adware-alert-scam

This is also a fake review website. The talking ad when entering the website reminds me of ScamChecker.com.

    @PuddinTame - I don't think ScamBook.com is like ScamChecker.com

    EDIT:

@leofelix - small correction - PuddinTame found DrNumb first; and if I had been paying attention, I would not have needed to track it down myself.

The site will potentially give many business to personal injure lawyers and they will be considered criminal cases. I would say this part of internet freedom had made humans so much worse...maybe we are reaching the end!

    RE: ScamChecker.com ?

One more thing guys, if you go to their facebook account at

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scam-Checker/110331 ...

and by any chance click on the Video that says:

    Christine Benedicto Mosqueda

That opens a web page with a web based attack which steals your whole data under your eyes.

    Attack Name: Facebook Fake Plugin

    -------

However, the thing about people telling things about businesses is done by many USERS on many CREDIBLE web sites nowadays, at least credible to most part.

I explain. If I go to their site scamcheckers or whatever and say that X company scammed me and this and that, and post that information, and do not provide real proof about it, this act is done by many users on many on-line services, and lets face the truth, that is a crime, for the user and for the service that allows it without investigating the claim, as it is no excuse for the online service to say that they have no sufficient employees to do it, or excuse it with other pointless reasons that in no way justify what they allow the users to do just for the sake of developing their busines, as they are not charities, no business rises from charity reasons. The solution, do not allow it without the user providing proof of fact, and without investigating all claims. Yes, I know it is a lot of work, but it must be done the right way, or many will be hurt for no good reason, and many do not even know they are being hurt - that's the "fun part".

There are services nowadays that let you write on a web page about a company or individual web site, and without the need to provide any shred of proof. Also, if you contact the administration of all of those services, they will never take the comments, nor reply to most cases, nor they will ever investigate it, because lets face it, there isn't enough employees to do that job, as there are thousands that do it on a hourly basis.

You do not need me to tell you which services I am talking about, you all know it very well, and despite the fact that those services and the people behind are serious, professional and brilliant, these things happen, so they can not wonder why many of those services create countless enemies out of the blue "for no good reason"!

Despite the fact that scamchecker and all that may be executed by scammers, they are not all scammers, and there are many that do post real life claims about scam and extortion. Not all is black and white."
