Congrats to winners!
There's no silver bullet to end the threat of phishers and spammers, but common sense and joining forces will go a long way fighting the bad guys. Long live WOT!

Signature . . .
This is my signature on several forums I visit. I made it my signature here one time but it ended up looking too long and confusing:
"Ultimately, the only protection against phishing, forged Web pages, downloading malware, and other threats is the technology located between the user's ears."
On forums with a sig delimiter and colors (HTML/BB Code), it shows up better.
But in any case, it's my firm belief.
Another one I've had is:
"The best antivirus is common sense . . . it can be updated daily"

What he wrote was, for a free antivirus program he recommends Avira Antivir and for a commercial one he recommends kaspersky internet security 2009 which he uses himself.

common sense...
BobJam: "The best antivirus is common sense . . . it can be updated daily"
Good way to say it. I can add that common sense is also free
(and not a downgraded version either).
Hmm, now you got me thinking:'Common sense' is also 'shared knowledge',
and then I'm tempted to say:
WOT = Common sense -

No Fun !!
Hey BobJam !
You know, to have common sense is good and makes you think twice about what you are doing but, IT'S NO FUN! Think about it , how could we have fun if we always thought about visiting bad sites to rate them. Having common sense would dictate that if you do visit such sites you are going to get infected and lose your PC for a certain time. Now, how much of a challenge would that be. I know , we use Sandboxes and VMWare to surf but , it's the thrill of the chase that makes it so rewarding. With out it , life just wouldn't be the same. So common sense in real lfe
but , thrill seeker on the PC .Athlonite.
Your help is always needed.

Thank You WOT
I just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful way to inform the public and get them involved in what we all have had to endure over the years as the internet has become more abused by criminals. If we all do our part in keeping a watch out for criminal activities, then we all win. One thing that I think can help considerably is that we need to watch the hosting providers and ISPs that host these criminals. Everyone should do what they can to seek them out and put pressure on the providers to get these criminals terminated.

Thanks
I'm honored to receive the WOT 2008 Publicity Award.
I think though that Bobjam, Phantazm, and Garret also deserve this award, from their continued support in the WOT google group. I'd like to also give a big thanks to Deborah, for her idea of making a WOT Wiki. Thanks again!

Awards
I think the awards idea is a good one and that all who received one deserved it.A lot of these people have put a lot of time and effort into wot for a long period of time and a award for them is just a recognition of that fact.

Creators of WOT
Seeing as we cannot give wot a award from us the best we can do is keep wot doing wot it does best.Ensuring peoples safety by finding good and bad sites and reviewjng them for them.I joined wot for selfish reasons. My protection. But the more I learned the more I got involved. It made me less selfish in the process.

Slide it over a little
This is a very cool idea! Another reason why WOT is so great.
But maybe just move the trophy in the Scam Buster award over a little but, because every time I see it I think it says 'cam buster'. When I read that, I think of disgusting fake porn sites, and disgusting porn sites are always the most dangerous sites to visit safety wise.
So, all that to say, maybe slide the trophy over a little. ;) -

WOT awards
We are so appreciative of our WOT users that we wanted to thank you in a special way. The new WOT awards helps us to express our gratitude to you for all you do.
There are three different awards:
The WOT Publicity award goes to those members who have enthusiastically promoted WOT and our safe surfing philosophy. They share a genuine desire to help people navigate the Internet safely, and they have shared WOT on personal and professional blogs, social networking sites, through business or school contacts and using other innovative techniques.
To see the first recipients of the WOT Publicity award please visit our blog or the January Inside MyWOT newsletter.
The WOT Scambusters award goes to those members who have discovered and reported threats that could do harm to others' computers, personal data and wallets.
The Top Member award goes to those members who serve the WOT community by giving their time, knowledge and advice to help others stay safe on the Internet.
Nominations accepted
If you would like to suggest someone for any of our awards, from the past or present, please email us at awards@mywot.com. Watch this space for future announcements of the Scambuster and Top User awards.
