    Increases in activity scores

We've received plenty of questions and feedback regarding the activity score, many thanks for all the comments!

You have expressed concerns that the score sometimes won't increase even though you have rated lots of new sites. The main reason is that the scale is logarithmic, as you probably already knew. However, we decided to change the calculation of the score so that it is more rewarding. From this day on, you will get a few more points when you rate or comment sites, or post on our website. The score remains logarithmic, so reaching higher levels still won't be easy.

Due to this change, almost everyone's score is now bigger than it was yesterday. Congratulations to those of you who have reached the platinum, gold, silver or bronze levels!

    Fair

I thought it was fair before but this sounds better. While climbing ranks is always fun hopefully the real motivation for participating is to give and have reliable information.

    Is it just me?

I made a few forum posts, left about one comment, and rated a few websites, and my activity score went up 800 points? I think this is much too big of a leap.

So does that mean that if you post in the forum you get your activity score up?

Yes, posting to the forum also counts as an activity.

    One more thing

I think if you are going to keep the mass rating tool, and are going to make it much easier (or it at least seems much easier to me) you should make using the mass rating tool require either platinum, or just a somewhat higher activity score.

    Re: Higher scores

Everyone's score increased yesterday, it's normal. We slightly changed how the scores are computed and your existing number of ratings and comments now result in more activity points. The higher you already were, the bigger the increase. This change hopefully makes increasing the score not quite so insanely difficult and therefore, more rewarding, especially after you reach higher levels.

Sorry for bumping a relatively old news topic... but I must remind everyone that to keep the quality up, you must enjoy your activity boost, but don't let it get to your head. Never rate or comment just to get points.

      That's for sure..

I have paused mass rating for quite long already.
This update in the change of calculation of activity score really helps me a lot as I don't really have time to mass rate.
This is real good news to people who are currently busy.
      Thanks a lot!
