    Re: Thunderbird

We don't have add-ons for email software at the moment.

      too bad

      I mean...
My Gmail does pretty good at sorting out the SPAM, it disallows harmful attachments, and if I do click a link that is malicious Google will display the "Reported Attack Site" as long as said domain is listed in some database (www.stopbadware.org ?).

It is the Outlook / Outlook Express / Thunderbird / SeaMonkey (browser and mail) users that need protection as well.

          RE-Too Bad...

          Hey lrharton !!

WOT will work in MSN Hotmail , Live.com , Yahoo.com , G-Mail.com. Finjan also works to verify the kinks in G-Mail.com but, in none of the others I have mentioned.

          Athlonite.

          Your help is always needed.

      Re-Finjan...

      irharton !!
I'm so sorry , I should have included a link for you. Finjan is a link scanner just like McAfee's SiteAdvisor. I'll let the good folks at finjan explain it for me .
      Finjan : http://securebrowsing.finjan.com/ . Again , sorry !

      Athlonite.

    bump

Thunderbird can accept add-ons like Firefox.
is it entirely different to create WOT to work with TB?

I bring up this old thread after inquiring whether this hack worked for Seamonkey's email along with it's browsing.

    TB is an email client

I think the difficulty might be getting WOT to work with client-side email programs such as Thunderbird. Gmail et al are all webmail based so in essence they're no different to loading up web pages.

re: TB is an email client

Yes, I use it - rarely.

My point, or question is that there are extensions that work for both TB and FF and in some cases SeaMonkey.
      Some quick examples:

WOT Community - gives us security through unity.

WOT coders: is it possible or not?

I'm aware of the add-ons that exist for Firefox; I even use Firefox myself and have TB as my email client. I only use one of those extensions you listed for FF, but not for TB. I've never added extensions for TB and yet have a small number for FF.

My point was whether our particular extension could work within the framework of the email client. I'm sure it would have been here before now if it was possible.

Cue the WOT coders: is it possible or not?

Yes, it's possible to write an add-on for Thunderbird. I have no idea how much changes would be needed to port the Firefox add-on though.

    Maybe

Since SeaMonkey Mail, Postbox, Spicebird, and Thunderbird all use the same Gecko APIs that Firefox uses and that they can use, it wouldn't be too hard.

    Echo

I am using Thunderbird email client for few days now and saw that there is an addon called "Thunderbrowse" availble that allows Thunderbird users to browse with it. But there is no link scanner availble.

I am not sure how many users browse that way but it would be cool if there would be a WOT Addon for Thunderbird too.

best spam filter for thunderbird and any email client

I use my gmail account to download all my other pop3 accounts and then access my gmail account with thunderbird. Gmail filters almost out all the spam. I check gmail spam box weekly for false positives which are basically nil.

    I would suggest using

I would suggest using Firetrust Mailwasher Pro with Firetrust benign
Works well for me to control e-mail matters in Thunderbird.
BTW: Mailwasher Pro 2010 is out!, and is awesome!
