    BEST Security Software

I am quite thrilled with Norton 360 - have been using it for the last 3 years, ever since Version 1 was launched by Symantec. In its third version now, Norton 360 offers online updates at a maximum interval of 5 minutes, therefore you are updated without even knowing it! Gone are the days when you had the best AntiVirus (or AntiSpyware), yet got infected because your program was not updated yesterday!

Traditional AntiViruses stop at stopping Viruses, Norton 360 goes way beyond that - it stops Trojans, Worms, Rootkits as well as Spyware! Moreover, it integrates with Internet Explorer and Firefox and thus, warns you when you land up at a Phished site or at a malicious site. This is much like what WOT does, only, Norton 360 compares the IP Address of the site you are at and the entry in its database, before declaring whether the site is safe. All this is done without any sacrifice of speed too!

As if that wasn't enough, you also have a robust Password Manager and Secure Autofill for Web Forms. This is also integrated into Internet Explorer and Firefox. The Password Management and Secure Autofill features currently do not integrate into other Browsers...

Finally, to ensure that Virus and Spyware scanning do not slow you down, Norton 360 has a feature named Norton Insight. When run, it certifies the bulk of the files on your Computer as 'Safe', checking with its database. Any time Norton 360 is run thereafter, it does not check these 'certified safe' files, thus vastly improving the time to scan! Needless to say, any change in the check sum of the 'certified files' will cause it to be scanned again!

    Spam??

Either welloiledpc's (total of 4 posts since September) praise is well written (should apply for work with an ad agency) and well considered, or the Norton spam bots are loose!

    Pulse updates

Just because a company advertises a 5-15 minute interval between definition updates - the pulse update - doesn't automatically qualify it as the "best". Some have classed the introduction of pulse updates by Symantec as a marketing gimmick.

Yes, they do provide such updates, but it's a bit misleading as there may only be one or two additions to each update; they still have to do QA testing between updates and will only release a signature when they're sure it meets the testing criteria.

    @ welloiledpc

Welcome to WOT, this is NOT an advertising platform!

This is a plug for Norton, probably via an affiliate.

Sorry, security suites DON'T work, a layered approach is far better and Norton is one I would not at present recommend - period!

      » Sorry, security suites

» Sorry, security suites DON'T work, a layered approach is far better

That's a matter of opinion. I use a security suite, but it isn't Norton. One of the "layered" approaches in tandem with that is using my noggin, that is, commonsense, but sadly, that seems to be lacking when I look around at how some people use the internet when they report problems with getting infected or scammed.

    I might consider Norton if:

    1. They gave me a suitable system to run it on
    2. Paid for a week cruse to the Caribbean
    3. Paid for a suitable female to accompany me to assist with luggage
    4. Pocket money for trinkets

    Norton

Norton was a nice Bike,Also B.S.A.Goldstar and Triumph Bonneville 650cc.I rather like the American Harley Davidson and Indian.I used to ride motorcycles in my youth. If I got on one now doing a ton I would probably freeze to death before I hit the ton.It gets cold at speed even in warm weather with a chill factor. And the prices are on the heavy side.I remember in 1972 a neighbor of mine selling a BSA Goldstar for £5-00p.It was a old banger but a fiver.(G.O.M.with Honours).

My first bike was a 700cc '55 Royal Enfield

My first bike was a 700cc '55 Royal Enfield that I bought for $300 when I was 17 and new everything that I had to hide from my mother as I told her I bought a moped and was parking it at my friend's place because I could not take it in the elevator of the apartment we lived.
I had it for a year when I took my mother to see it to prove to her I was not going to kill myself or turn into a motorcycle punk
After I had cleaned it up and painted the gas tank navy blue I sold it for $500 and bought a '58 500cc BMW with the money that I kept until I was working and could afford a brand new '72 750 BMW that I purchased with the touring tank in all black that I went all over Canada on.
Those were the days when cold did not seem to bother me much but now it sure does.

I don't think anyone is advertising anything - looks more like nostalgia to me.

Or perhaps some will only accept Norton - if it comes with 2 wheels... ;-)

Its called spysherrif and you can download it on spysherrif.com. Its a really great antivirus, much better than norton and its free, too!
I've used it for around 2 years and no harm has come onto my computer except for the whole hard disk corrupting...
LOL. THIS IS ANOTHER ADVERTISEMENT...WOT IS NOT A SITE TO ADVERTISE YOUR GOODS. PLEASE GOTO OTHER FORUMS TO ADVERTISE SUCH THINGS

You will have a lot of spyware, virus and a corrupt system! You can end with a blue screen of death!!! And the best: YOU WILL FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE BECAUSE YOU WILL GET CRAZY!!!!
      Isn´t it incredible?

      lol

        Optimize your PC

I recommend deleting everything in your registry and C:\WINDOWS\! No more errors and bugs! (that was a joke)

Just MyWOT and SpywareBlaster, I guess... Found a malicious or fraudulent website? Rate it at WOT ASAP! Found a game hacker? Report it to the game's anti-cheat team! Infected with a virus? Delete it with an antivirus =P

    Best Protection and Maximum Performance

You know what's better than Norton's optimization? Download Winfixer 2005! Overclock your CPU up to 10 ghz! It will operate SO FAST, that not only your security will scan so fast and will protect so much, but viruses can delete so much more programs and more data! Want more speed? Take out your heatsink and fan! The more heat, the better, atoms move faster with more heat! WANT MORE SPEED? Take off your computer case, put your motherboard on your A/C, turn off the A/C, turn up the heat and let it run! GOOD BYE slow Norton and silly slow security, hello HI SPEED!

Watch your antivirus go so fast, it will burn your computer of all your viruses, but not only that, it will reduce the risk of a virus attacking your hard drive before it is too late!

I have recommend WinFixer 2005 because, FASTEST AND BEST ANTIVIRUS EVER, run it on an XP, MAXIMUM SECURITY! For EXTREME security, try WinHound, you may find these software from malware distributors, get them, they're awesome.

    Possible Money Lost:
Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Graphics card, Sound Card: $3000
    Hard Drive Data: $5000
    Fire Extinguisher: $50

    Save up to:
    Optimization software: $50
Norton: -$90 (replace with WinFixer 2005, or WinHound and SpySheriff)

      It was a joke

Just incase of there were any people who actually believed that, don't do that.
Don't overclock your CPU unless you are a master at it.
Don't install Winfixer 2005, WinHound and SpySheriff.

Just MyWOT and SpywareBlaster, I guess... Found a malicious or fraudulent website? Rate it at WOT ASAP! Found a game hacker? Report it to the game's anti-cheat team! Infected with a virus? Delete it with an antivirus =P
