    Usefulness

When using hacking, cracking or exploits sites like (astalavista.box.sk, ddlsite.com, cracks.ms), some of them uses idiot-protection mechanisms and sometimes can infect unprotected computer, so the rating shows correct information, that the site is not trustworthy, not reliable and does not care about privacy or child safety, BUT there is another factor Usefulness, some of them are extremely useful and you can't find the same information anywhere else but some are just fake so field "Usefulness" would be a big help.
This happens because we can't judge about things as children(everything is ether GOOD or BAD).
I believe Trustworthiness and Reliability are almost the same thing if you please could just add Usefulness or replace one of the above.

    So...

You are saying you want to add a rating usefulness that way, people can know a site will infect their computer, but go to it anyway because it is useful? Or in this case, illegal??

Not sure I like that idea. :/

      ...

I definately do not like that idea. (I'll save the rant I usually go into when referencing such sites)

    Site may infect their computers

Site may infect their computers only if their computers are not protected.
The red warning will scare all of them off anyway.

About legality, I don't think WOT can be taken responsible, for saying that potentially illegal site is useful.

      ... you're missing the point ...

Sorry dude but you've completely missed the point of WoT. WoT is a PROTECTION utility, meaning it should be correctly reporting on dangerous websites.

The types of sites you are referring to, are well known for malware/exploits etc, and should NEVER be "promoted" (and yes, calling them useful is promoting them). We should be advising people stay away from them, not just got the legalities issues, but for the dangers posed to their computer.

Please also don't try and claim the sites are fine if protection is in place. Unless the site is spewing old (already patched/sig'd) crap, the machine is still open to 0 day exploits - the very thing usually seen on this type of site.

    Agree !!

I can't , for the life of me , understand your string of thought !!! I mean , how Usefull is a infected crack or keygen ?? no matter How good the information is.These are illegal Period ! if you were to put a Useful ratting on those sites , you would deliberately be saying to WOT. members to visit and download Illegal licenses that would possibly , infect them. I REALLY don't think and Know that, this is right..If it's a bad site then, that's how you rate it.

    Athlonite.

    Your help is always needed.

    re: Usefulness

Exuse me but there is a "usefulness" rating.
    It's called "Vendor Reliability"
Many assume that category to be for purchases made online.
Let's look at wikipedia for example. wikipedia has a Vendor Reliability rating that correlates to the accuracy of information made available. That is wikipedia's "usefulness."

Now about cracks, hackers, and exploits.

    Exploits
An exploit (from the same word in the French language, meaning "achievement", or "accomplishment") is a piece of software, a chunk of data, or sequence of commands that take advantage of a bug, glitch or vulnerability in order to cause unintended or unanticipated behavior to occur on computer software, hardware, or something electronic (usually computerized). This frequently includes such things as violently gaining control of a computer system or allowing privilege escalation or a denial of service attack.
    Hacker
In common usage, a hacker is a person who breaks into computers. The subculture that has evolved around hackers is often referred to as the computer underground. Proponents claim to be motivated by artistic and political ends, and are often unconcerned about the use of criminal means to achieve them.
    Cracks
Software cracking is the modification of software to remove protection methods: copy protection, trial/demo version, serial number, hardware key, date checks, CD check or software annoyances like nag screens and adware.

The distribution and use of cracked copies is illegal in almost every developed country. There have been many lawsuits over cracking software, but most had to do with the distribution of the duplicated product rather than the process of defeating the protection, due to the difficulty of constructing legally sound proof of individual guilt in the latter instance. In the United States, the passing of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) legislation made software cracking, as well as the distribution of information which enables software cracking, illegal

WOT's function is to protect the average user against: Exploits, Cracks, Hacks, virus, spyware, malware, dangerous and illegal content.

To say the myFavoriteCrackSite may try to install a Trojan but should be classified "OK" because I like getting Photoshop without having to pay for it is... asinine.

    Asinine
    as⋅i⋅nine
    –adjective
    1. foolish, unintelligent, or silly; stupid: It is surprising that supposedly intelligent people can make such asinine statements.
    2. of or like an ass: asinine obstinacy; asinine features.

    ???

That suggestion makes no sense whatsoever. How is it "Useful" to give computer users the idea that a dangerous site is "Useful"? Would it be "Useful" for every computer that visits a site become infected because everyone says it is "Useful"?
