    Hello,

I was surfing around Smithsonian museums website and was hit with a massive firefox crash. Seemed a flash app caused it. I flagged it red, use caution there friends.

    Re: smithsonian

The Smithsonian Institution website seems perfectly safe to me. Your browser's instability is not the site's fault and this can hardly be called a browser exploit.

I would look around and see

I would look around and see any add-ons I have installed. Also, are you using an alpha or beta version of Firefox?

Re: I would look around and see

It sounds like it was the Flash plug-in that crashed. This will take down the whole browser unless plug-ins are run in a different process.

FF is less stable for the time being...

I've seen Firefox crash many times lately.
But I don't suspect any particular website.
Rather it seems like the fox
is a bit buggy for a while... ;-)

I agree about FF crashing and it seems to be Java. If I disable Java and JS it seems to be more stable. 3.6 should fix this problem.

I disabled the flash and no more problems, but I agree the latest Firefox is a bit buggy.Java seems the culprit from my experiments. Hurry 3.6 please Mozilla!

It was flash/java/JS. Still is buggy hopefully 3.6 will fix.

    re: java

I keep java disabled in all browsers.
It's not Java as much as poor programming on the "developer's" end.

Flash has never presented a problem for me, not even on my older machines.

JavaScript (JS) is not Java or even remotely associated to Java... other than the misleading name

      g7w,

You know what you say is absolute truth. Poorly designed websites are the #1 reason for Firefox crashes in my opinion. The problems depend on what site I visit. Sites that have a lot of "movement" seem the worst. Since I'm only a viewer and not the writer of the sites I visit I have to put up with what we have.

I really enjoy the info I get from wot forums. Good interesting information. That is a smart person that sees that poorly designed websites lead to crashes.
