    Re: Linux Problem

It sounds like you downloaded a source code package and need to compile it. If you are not using Ubuntu, the process might be slightly different.

What are you trying to do

What are you trying to do ?

In 99% of cases, you don't have to use the source. There is probably already a pre-compiled package available somewhere.

What are you trying to install ?
Which distribution are you using ? (Ubuntu, Mandriva, RedHat, Xandros, other ?)

    OpenSuSE 11.0 and 11.1 are a

OpenSuSE 11.0 and 11.1 are a dream to use (11.0 is a little more forgiving on hardware) It has TONS of 1click install software. Auto updates, security and patches.

    Ditto on Ubuntu 9.04

Get an easy distribution, buy a book, or magazine they come w/ a DVD/CD, go for it... I've been using a flavor of linux since RedHat 4 and Mandrake 5 or 6.. yea that dates me. LOL

I've been using SuSE 11.0 on an IBM x31 for 1+ years & love it!
