    Wot desktop client

I wonder if Wot would consider implementing a stand-alone desktop client that could cross-check URL's from other applications that web-browsers?

    I could think of:

    -Instant Messengers
    -Email programs
    -Twitter clients

All of these got problems with malware URL's spread through them. I would love to see a Wot client running in the background where I could click a button and instantly see if the URL is considered safe.

    URL

When clicking on a URL doesn't it open the [system default] browser?
If the browser set as default is either Internet Explorer or Firefox with WOT installed, doesn't the add-on already show if the URL is safe or not?

To test a URL's "safety" without opening would require a database on your computer for every possible URL to the entire Internet - I don't think such a DB exists, not even Google's entire system has this, since thousands of new URL's are created daily.

    As for how WOT works...
Set to Warn loads the URL in the background with a warning screen hiding the contents, set to Block means the domain / IP is checked in WOT's system first and not loaded, depending upon your personal warn/block rating settings.

    Re: Desktop client

It's obviously be possible to make one, but how would a separate desktop application make checking links any easier?
