    Try...

I would suggest the HpHosts or MVPS hosts files.

    HpHosts: http://hosts-file.net

    MVPS: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

HpHosts & MVPS hosts files r

HpHosts & MVPS hosts files r a good source but wot have alot more dangerous sites been rated red (blacklisted) than both of them combine so if all of the 2,376,573+/- dangerous sites been in the hostsfile, it'll be safer on the net...

    http://www.mywot.com/

    Number of rated sites: 24,180,697
    New this month: 301,674
    Number of dangerous sites: 2,376,573
    Number of comments: 2,333,038

    If you have WOT

you have feedback for a website's reputation.

If you use a hosts file, you have slightly more protection against possible Malware.

If you use an AV you have probable protection against infection.

If you have all of these combined, you have more protection than someone who uses nothing.

If you do not go online, you are perfectly safe.

    Why not OpenDNS ?

You can also use OpenDNS: it will block all kind of "bad" sites at the DNS level (thus it works in all programs, not only browsers).

You can also choose which categories to block, and there are 40+ categories.
    See: http://static.commentcamarche.net/www.commentcamar...
(Sites in OpenDNS are also human-rated.)

It works very nice. It's free to use.

      re: Why not OpenDNS

      Agree!
My router connects to OpenDNS so the network is protected.
I personally do not use the Categories for blocking, the "basic" does a good job for me.

I just wanted to elaborate a little that www.PhishTank.com is operated by OpenDNS.

        Absolutely.

        Absolutely.
And PhishTank also feeds WOT :-)

        Added benefits:
        - faster browsing (makes a real difference for me).
        - no stupid blocking by your ISP (like some bad ISP do).
