It looks like a nice site that you've spent some time on, and I like the graphics and info.

      Thank You!

Yeah, I've spent a lot of time on it but still have lotssss more to do. It's taking me longer than I anticipated but that's my fault...I'm new to the "having your own website world" :D I did get my primary agenda up and going fast so now I'm working on the extra added tweaks. I'll be keeping the website simple but Professional and Very Informational. Thanks for your Feed back! I greatly appreciate it. :)

    two suggestions

First, nice site. My wife and I are animal lovers, have 4 fish, 4 cats, and a black Labrador. She wants me to find a plcae with about 5 acres so she can start up a rescue. *sigh* Rated you Green

    Second...
Your site is a bit "messed up" in my viewport (17in monitor 1024x768 pixels)
    Rather than tweak templates, etc...

    Your server
    Server: Apache/1.3.39 (Unix) mod_jk/1.2.26 mod_layout/3.2 mod_gzip/1.3.19.1a mod_throttle/3.1.2

Should handle the installation of Joomla
Check it out, it works well and is fairly easy to set up / install.
Your site is still "young" so moving to a CMS early would be a wise choice.
Plus, It will keep your site looking nice in most all browsers.

As for the images, rather than load the full size and force them to reduce, make copies of them smaller that link to full size for those interested. This will reduce your overall traffic (bandwidth). A simple, free, yet effective image viewer is irfanview

    FYI, here's what I see:
(temporary image, right-click to view full size)

Bulletin board, online = BBS = Forum
You could use Stubby and call it "Stubby's Wall" :-)

    peace,

      Echo

I am seeing EXACTLY the same thing that g7w is seeing. We both use Firefox. I haven't looked to see how it renders in Opera, Chrome, or IE. But one of the things you should do is check how it renders in all browsers (or at least the ones that have some market share).

I am building a site in Joomla - started Joomla because of g7w's recommendation, like he does here. Have been more than satisfied with it . . . I recommend it.

        Not quite echo

I also use Firefox, but I don't see exactly the same, but almost.
Display is a bit wider than 1024 pixels - also in IE8,
        (selecting compatibility mode didn't help).

I wonder how Opera displays it..?

See my post below. I tried it in Opera and got the same view. But I don't know if the OP has tried it in Opera yet or what he sees there.

      Thanks!

Thanks for the rating and comment! I believe I fixed the view...I use Firefox and mine showed me it was fine but seeing your view, I realized immediately what the problem was...just me :D Fixed.

Thanks for the Ifranview I used to have it once upon a time ago, not sure what happened to it though.

RE: Joomla...my website is actually being hosted by webs.com I started out with webs free but since then have upgraded to a premium account to allow a more professional look and url. I'm checking out Joomla now and will be visiting their forum to ask questions and seek help...I mainly want to find out if any premium webs members are using Joomla. webs.com has a site builder so just wanting to ensure it's compatable. Thanks for sending me to Joomla..I'll be researching it before I get too into my website.

PS: I hope you find the 5 acres for a very reasonable price...I'd love to have 5 acres :) Rescue work is a lot of hard work and consumes a lot of your time. Donations are a huge factor too. I wish you and your wife the Absolute Best!

Echo: Thanks! I just checked IE and am in the process of downloading Google Chrome and Opera. Firefox is my primary browser and I rarely ever use IE. Great Advice! Thanks again!

      Same

Still seeing the picture skewed . . . in fact, still seeing all of it as g7w originally showed the image of the home page.

I thought you said you "fixed" it. Are you seeing the picture skewed? What was the "fix" that you applied?

In any case, this really has nothing to do with your rating on the content . . . the rating is fine (green). Comments about how it appears are only about cosmetics.

Have you looked at it in Opera and Chrome? For me, it looks EXACTLY the same again in both those browsers.

    hmmm...

First, I want to Thank Everybody for the ratings :)

Now to answer the questions about what ppl are seeing...FireFox is my Primary web browser. I also have IE (I believe the latest version) and I downloaded Opera and Google Chrome yesterday and I'm not seeing what you guys are apparently seeing. So, since I don't see it it's kinda difficult to fix.

I'm going to attempt to post what I see here and this is from FireFox, however, IE, Chrome, and Opera all show the same thing just different browsers...

    oh and I might add...

...On my work PC which has XP and a larger monitor also displays it the same as I see it in the above picture. I use FireFox at work but will check IE tomorrow.

My home PC's OS is Vista Home Premium. My other home PC has XP.

UPDATE: The right tagline in my header was slightly off. So, what I did for now is move my Title and taglines closer to and on the pic. I'm working on a logo so the Picture is only temporary. But atleast it shouldn't be messed up visually anymore. or I hope.

Thanks again Everybody for the ratings! I greatly Appreciate it!

      Hmmmmmm . . .

That IS indeed what I see.

      Two things.

First, it appears as though you have moved the text to the left of the picture and it now appears below the picture . . . that part's fine.

But, it now looks (cosmetics again) heavily unbalanced because the text to the right of the picture is still there. What about moving that immediately below the text that you already moved to below the picture? That would present a more balanced appearance.

However, since this is only cosmetics, and it's your web site your opinion of what looks good or not prevails. Nevertheless, I'm giving you an opinion of an outside observer. Others may think it's better the way it is. See what the other opinions of it here are.

Secondly, and this is much more pertinent, the picture itself is STILL skewed. Specifically, it appears as though the height proportion is wayyyyyy off from the width proportion. The height looks compressed.

But, since you say the picture is going to be replaced by a logo, we may be feeding oats to a dead horse there.

Still green though, and likely will remain that way no matter how it looks.

        Thanks for the Comments BobJam!

I'm working with my website with a special Site Builder, so I'm still learning and by using the Site Builder I don't have to worry too much about HTML at least not until I get to know it better.

I just found out I can resize my header...that was one of my problems was having limited space. I needed more space which I now have. As for the picture being skewed, it was because I forced stretched it, I believe. I now re-did the picture and resized it where I didn't force anything so Hopefully it doesn't appear to be skewed.

I moved my main title "Pit Bull Happenings..." to the top of the header (centered) and moved the red text (tagline-now yellow) to below the picture (centered). To make the site more balanced. Where this is only cosmetics, it is still VERY Important to me...I want my site to be simple and easy to use as well as have a Clean, Professional Look to it. :)

Thank you all for your Help and Good Ratings!!! I really do Greatly Appreciate it!

        Keep the ratings coming!!! :)

Keep the suggestions coming too! :) I'm new to owning a website...so I still have tons to learn which I am (HTML and CSS). Thanks Again! and this time I DO BELIEVE the cosmetic parts are fixed...and as far as the ratings go....I expect to ALWAYS have it minimally "Good" I won't accept for anything less! Before I place a link on my site I always check it out First! WOT Community is Awesome!

    oh...I have a question

How can I get WOT to update that thumbnail they have of when my site was like one week old? I'd like the new thumbnail to reflect my new and improved site. :)

    • User picture

      auto update

It takes about 60 days but the image auto updates. So you still have time to get the final tweaks up and running. IWOT refreshes many thumbnails per day; current rated count is over 24 million sites, that's over 24 million thumbnails getting or scheduled to ger refreshed, divide that by 60 = 400,000 sites per day - now that's a lot of bandwidth! And as more sites get rated, all the numbers increase.

    Search?

I noticed you don't have a "Search" function. Might be nice to add that. For example, I was browsing your site and wanted to know what Pits were originally bred for. I remember reading that somewhere on your site but couldn't remember where. So I thought that if I searched for the keyword "bred" on your site, I would find it. Oooops, no search function. Or is there one for registered members only?

BTW, what WERE Pits originally bred for?

      Excellent Idea!

I'll work on getting one put up. :)

I'm still working on the facts for my History Page...It's very Important that I don't have any descrepencies and false info...The History to this is still very controversial,,, So, I'm being very Cautious so I do it right. :) with that being said...

The American Pit Bull Terrier was created from the crossing the Staffordshire Terrier (for the Agility) and a Bulldog (for Strength) They were originally bred for helping farmers with taking control over the out of control Bulls whether to take them to be slaughtered, mated, etc... Dealing with real life Bulls, a pack of American Pit Bull Terriers needed to have a lot of agility and strength...they also helped hunters dealing with wild animals such as bears and wild hogs...Then human got the idea of fighting APBTs with other APBTs So, Yes APBT do have the Potential for being Dog Aggressive however, during the fights back in the 60s and 70s before it was outlawed, their was a referee in the ring as well as the dog handlers thus having a Human Aggressive Dog was completely Unacceptable This is why the real breeders were very careful in creating a dog that was Completely Human Friendly as well as Loyal. Today, people frequently confuse Dog Aggression with Human Aggression. Even when the APBT was bred to help the farmers and hunters They were then too bred to be Human Friendly. A Human Aggressive APBT was Normally (not always) wasn't bred and also was killed immediately whether it was the farmer, hunter, or fighter dog. The APBT were bred to be Completely Human Friendly, to be Loyal, and to Succeed at the Job they were given to do and the True Ambassadors of the Breed not only Succeeds at the job given but they succeed Exceptionally. They have a Spectacular History so I can't wait to complete my History Page...

If you go to my History Page their is a link to the Pit Bull Placebo...although I haven't fully completed the reading I highly recommend it and so do many Pit Bull Enthusiasts. This is a most Amazing Canine! although very misunderstood.
