Why don't add a direct link to the website

Hi,

It would be good to have a direct link on the website's description (on the scorecard, like this one http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/newgrounds.com )

Thank you ;)

Direct Link to Websites

I believe this used to be available on scorecards by having the thumbnail linking to the respective website however it was removed because WOT would be flagged by other systems for linking to malicious websites.

I've wondered and asked the same thing

IMHO, it makes sense to reciprocate, especially since there is the feature to send the Scorecard to a friend. The friend gets the WOT Scorecard but does not have access to the site it represents - this does not make sense.

I can understand not linking to possible malicious sites.
WOT is a rating system, conditional linking can be used.
If a site falls within a low, untrustworthy numerical range that displays Red then the link is nullified; i.e.
domain_name_scorecard
otherwise, it's an active link back to the domain it references.

....

That is how it used to work, but bear in mind - different vendors have different ratings on different sites, so for example, if WoT linked to an unrated site that was malicious, WoT would get flagged. It would also get flagged if they linked to a site with a green rating, that another vendor deemed malicious.

conditions

Conditional linking can meet more than 1 condition and links can be presented differently.

Unrated sites can be linked, with proper warning/caveat that the site is "unknown"
Green sites in WOT are, for the purpose of the WOT Community, deemed safe - whether or not any other vendor has that site deemed safe or not is irrelevant, an example being SiteAdvisor - I use WOT not SA, I could care less how SA "rates" a website. Besides... WOT already links to every website, indirectly. Click the whois link and you then get the link to the domain. I would rather see the linking more controlled via the WOT System. I can change rating levels for Warnings or Blocking, those same levels could also be used to test conditions for linking to the website directly; for example if I have protection enable for unrated websites, then the link remains pointing to the scorecard (self). If I am not a WOT user (no add-on installed for example - just a friend) then the linking condition would be restricted to the overall Reputation Score of the site: green, yellow get linked, orange and red do not.

This will be a requirement soon now that CTN has been announced, there will be link backs from the WOT System to any website subscribing to these new services - what if a green WOT rated site acquires CTN but is rated lower on SA for example?

The time has come for reciprocal linking to honest websites.

Yes, but

In theory, you're proposal looks OK. But in practice, Murphy's law prevails. Consequently, WOT would be taking the risk that everything works as planned. Don't know that WOT wants to take that risk. Sami?

Re: Yes, but

We have no plans to link to websites from the scorecard. We used to, but I believe the links were removed when Google thought we were using scorecards for spamming (or something) and started filtering us from their search results.

Some users also thought the risk of there being a live link to an adult website on the scorecard was unbearable and would surely end up corrupting the youth.

CTN linking

quote:
a CTN member notice will show on the site’s scorecard, and there will be a special CTN icon in search results and on the add-on.

Is this notice linked back to the site or is it just a textual announcement?

Re: CTN linking

I believe it's a badge of some sort, which is linked to our website.

I don't understand what's so hard...

...about drag-selecting the domain name, ctrl-c, click address bar, ctrl-v

It takes less than 2 seconds and avoids all the complications described above.

IPV6 sites

mywot does not support ipv6-only web sites

examples of such sites

http://ipv6.google.com/ --> owned by Google Inc
http://carlos.dns6.org:8181/ --> owned by my self

#a lot more of sites

thus, we all, running on ipv6 enabled pcs

for example ... windows vista, windows xp sp3, windows 2003 server, etc.

can access any ipv6 site knowing only its url

only mywot does not supply a rating for tese sites

example
http://[2001:4860:b006::84]/search?q=cache:HRLL4jfNtGYJ:www.adobe.com/products/reader/+.pdf&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk

and also we all cannot add a comment for none of these sites

No results found
Gray WOT icon
We cannot find the scorecard for the site (2001:4860:b006) you entered. Please check the domain name for errors and try again.

imho
with 1-2 years remaining, at most ,to entire internet go to ipv6
we must not form dependency
nor depend on mywot to get advised of bad/improper/phising web sites .

there are , or are being developped other products, to help us on this

even mtwot will be an alternative too, in case ipv6 problems get fixed in near future
thanks

Re: IPV6 sites

mywot does not support ipv6-only web sites

Sure it does. You can rate DNS names whether they have an AAAA record or not, and the add-on supports IPv6 addresses too.

Of course, you can't reach our servers through IPv6, but then again, the same applies to most of the web.

examples of such sites

You just posted two DNS names, not IPv6 addresses. You can rate both of them.

thus, we all, running on ipv6 enabled pcs

Your computer may support IPv6, but very few people actually have IPv6 connectivity at the moment and I doubt that will change any time soon. Besides, most people will continue to use DNS names to access websites no matter which IP version they are using.

only mywot does not supply a rating for tese sites

Actually, the IPv6 address you posted just didn't have enough ratings. It has a reputation now.

also we all cannot add a comment for none of these sites

You got us there, we don't have scorecards for IPv6 addresses. Still, you can rate them using the add-on if you must.

Edit: In the mean while, you can access the scorecard by putting the address in square brackets, so it won't get mangled.

with 1-2 years remaining, at most ,to entire internet go to ipv6

Ok, since we're making predictions, here's mine: we won't see any significant move to IPv6 in the next 1-2 years and you still won't be able to reach most of the web using IPv6 in 2011.

if you are going to test...

and are using Firefox...find an add-on called Copy and Go

You highlight a non-live link and right-click and then select Copy and Go. It goes to the website. Cool and simple.
