    Virus Protector is a Rogue Antivirus!

    VirusProtector is rogue software that reports false threats on the computer. The software must be downloaded manually by the user. When a user downloads Virus Protector and runs a scan, the program reports false scan alerts. This rogue software tries to fool the user in purchasing the full license in order to remove the false threats.

    Estas variantes de Fakealert son cada vez mas numerosas, las recomendaciones para evitar infectarse son, manejarse por sitios considerados seguros y evitar visitar sitios desconocidos, menos hacer descargas de sitios que no sean de plena confianza, mantener actualizado Windows, actualizar el navegador y sus complementos, Java, Flash Player, etc.

    Y por supuesto tener una buena combinación antivirus, antispyware y firewall.

      how did you conclude

      virusprotector.com has anything to do with the rogue antivirus: "Virus Protector" ?

      Just because the rogue AV has a certain name does not mean if by coincidence a domain has the same name that they have anything to do with each other.
      Selcom will rogue AV's obtain identical domain names - that's just too obvious.

      IF you go to virusprotector.com you'll see nothing is offered there, it is a parked domain. The same is true for virus-protector.com

      The whois tells us it's been around since 06 September 2006.
      The whois for virus-protector.com shows creation date being: 27 August 2003

      So now if you're curious, you need to dig into the domain further, you can start by checking to see if it's listed in other Malware Blacklist services - you'll find links to many on the Wiki -> other useful tools page
      For example: SafeBrowsing has 0 entries for this domain during the past 90 days.
      Same is true for virus-protector.com

      Virus Protector is not that new...
      Many domains have been shut down those that remain generally do not use a ".com" TLD.

      You just offered a low reputation rating to two innocent domains, and someone else has followed your lead in agreement.

      Sometimes, it's not such a good idea to blindly rate a domain without investigating it first, and the first form of investigating is visiting the domain.

      I suggest that you stick with sites you are familiar with until you are prepared to and ready for Maleware security research.
