    WOT Not Working!

I have been using WOT for a while, but noticed recently that it's no longer working!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but the PREFERENCES link is no longer active, nor is the REFRESH an active link.

My browser is FireFox 3.0.3 with the following Add-ons:
    Adblock Plus 0.7.5.5
    CookieSafe 3.0.3
    Interclue 1.5.7
    NoScript 1.8.3.6
    Redirect Remover 2.5.5
    ShowIP 0.8.08r14b0251
    WOT 20081020

I am wondering if there are any known conflicts with these Add-ons or if my firewall could be the reason?

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Re: WOT Not Working!

What does it say on the rating window?

There are no known conflicts with these add-ons, but if you suspect this might be the case, please try creating a new Firefox profile to see if that solves the problem.

    Re: WOT Not Working!

    Thanks Sami for responding!

Just to clarify, when I 'mouse' over the WOT Icon [grayed out with a white X inside a blue circle] on the FF Toolbar, I see this message:
Failed to load ratings; retrying shortly.

Meanwhile, I will try to create a new FF Profile.

    WOT Still Not Working!

I loaded a new FF Profile, reinstalled WOT, deleted my old WOT registration and began anew ... but alas, WOT is still not working correctly!

The PREFERENCES option upon installation was NOT operational, nor was the REFRESH option.

The WOT Icon is gray with a white X inside the blue circle -- which states:
FAILED TO LOAD RATINGS; RETRYING SHORTLY

    Any suggestions?

      Re: WOT Still Not Working!

When you created a new Firefox profile, did you install any other add-ons?

If you did, then try again with a clean profile with no other extensions installed. If you don't have any other extensions, then it sounds like something else is preventing the add-on from accessing our servers.

I'm only aware of ZoneAlarm blocking rating requests with certain configuration, but in any case, please send us a problem report and we'll get to the bottom of this.

Also, if you mean the Preferences button in the Tools -> Add-ons window, it's always disabled. The Refresh option on WOT's menu is available only if the add-on was able to load the rating in the first place.

(Oh, and your website account has nothing to do with the problem, you don't have to delete it and create another one.)

      Re: WOT Not Working

Creating a new Firefox profile has solved the problem for everyone so far. See the earlier posts.

It is a bit strange that the Firefox update causes this problem though. I didn't see any problems with the 3.0.4 update at least.

    FireFox problems

I just downloaded the new Firefox yesterday 11/21/2008 and it seem to work but this morning when I went to log in it would not load the login page.

So I had to go to another option and finally got in through another option. FF seems to have some kind of issue for sure.

    A few issues with 3.04 but . . .

On the mozilla newsgroup there have been a few folks that have reported add on conflicts and crashing issues with 3.04, but it AND WOT have been fine for me. My add ons and plug ins are as follows:

    *** Extensions (enabled: 22, disabled: 0; total: 22)
    Bookmark Duplicate Detector 0.7.2
    bug.gd Error Search 1.5.1
    CustomizeGoogle 0.76
    Dog Ears 1.7
    Firefox Search Sidebar 1.1
    Flagfox 3.3.4
    FlagTab 2.1.3
    FoxClocks 2.4.97
    Free Download Manager plugin 1.3.2
    Google Toolbar for Firefox 3.1.20080730W
    Image Zoom 0.3.1
    InfoLister 0.10
    Interclue 1.5.7
    Java Console 6.0.07
    MR Tech Toolkit 6.0.3.1
    NoScript 1.8.5
    Read it Later 0.9926
    ReminderFox 1.8
    ScrapBook 1.3.3.7
    Stylish 0.5.7
    Work Offline 1.4
    WOT 20081111

    *** Themes (1)
    Default [selected]

    *** Plugins
    Adobe Acrobat
    Google Updater
    iTunes Application Detector
    Microsoft® DRM
    Mozilla Default Plug-in
    Shockwave Flash
Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library

Now watch . . . since I said 3.04 is working fine for me, I've put a jinx on myself and now it will start to crash or WOT will stop working!

      Re: FF3.0.4

I've had similar issues too. Since I'm using Firefox 3.0.4 the browser would often crash. This happens especially when I'm watching videos on sites like YouTube. However, I doubt that is WOT's fault but rather a bug in Firefox itself. The only add-on I recently installed is FireFTP, which is never active unless you open it.

EDIT: I also got the error message that WOT could not load ratings, but that is sure because the top speed available out here in the last corner of the country is some 50KB/sec (if the neighbours aren't surfing too), and if you're loading several tabs at a time the connection is quickly overstressed. This does not explain the firefox crashes though...

    Fine Here...

WOT works fine for me...however sometimes it fails to load any ratings. Usually though, that's fixed when I restart Firefox or wait a little longer..

    Hello, I got a problem a

    Hello,

    I got a problem a little diferent...
Every time I open Firefox, my WOT button isn't there...
I tried everything the troubleshooting told me (including creating a new profile)... I even reinstalled Mozilla, but nothing seems to fix the problem...

So I noticed something strange: if I open another window of Firefox while the first one is still open, the WOT button reappears in the new window!
It's annoying!! I want the WOT button back to function normally as before without open a 2nd window to make it appear...

    Thanks!

Re: Hello, I got a problem

You created a fresh profile with no other add-ons and the WOT button disappears when you restart your browser?

Are you sure you started Firefox with the new profile? After you close all Firefox windows, do you see any firefox.exe processes running on the Task Manager?

    I think I have a worse problem..... :(

Why does it seem that some websites can bypass the blocking settings that I have set(like wikiepedia.org)? P.S. My settings block (not warning) all sites that have any one of the ratings poor and below, and also block if they have an unknown rating. Please Help. I don't know what's really going on even though my settings work on other websites! (like wikiepdia.org, sites with poor and unknown ratings but for some reason, not for others!) P.P.S. I have not added any websites to the whitelist. Double-checked!

Re: I think I have a worse problem

If the confidence for the reputation (the little human figures next to the reputation symbol) is below threshold, the add-on won't block the site even if it has a poor reputation. If you agree with the reputation, just rate the site yourself and it will be blocked next time.

    WOT not working

I have a similar problem. The WOT Icon shows up as green, as usual, but clicking on it does nothing. I am unable to rate new pages or view the score for a page this way. I have to use the settings through the tool menu. I have tried a new profile and uninstalling and then reinstalling to no avail.

If anyone knows a remedy i would be interested.

    Thank you kindly

      Re: WOT not working

Are you sure that creating a clean Firefox profile doesn't solve the problem? Do you see errors in Tools -> Error Console?

If nothing else helps, I suppose you could enable extension logging and see what shows up in Firefox's console.

        debugger

Does WOT have a debugger script that might track down the problem?

No, but the add-on will log any errors when logging is enabled in Firefox.

That happens when someone did a mass rating. Then so many equal comments were actually submitted. If you take a closer look, you'll see that the domain names they were posted to never are the same.
