    Super-Antivirus

Before we lynch this guy in public (and I have myself already . . . see this thread, particularly Sami's post on page 2), I guess we ought to be fair and give this fellow a chance to explain.

So, I'm starting this thread just to give Super-Antivirus a chance to say more than his fake persona Licon44 said about techjaws: "This site sucks"

    Hmmmm . . .

Two votes to apply Wild West justice already, Super-Antivirus.

If I were you, I'd either make my mea culpa a good one, or else ride out of town at night.

    Damage report..?

Here are the facts I could find, scattered over several threads:

"Super-Antivirus" created 30 false profiles (now banned).
One (or probably more) of them attacked techjaws.com
    Super-Antivirus is also behind Recurec.

I suspect that techjaws isn't the only site being harmed by this fraud.
But how do we know what 30 (now banned profiles) rated? Sami..?
I know that ratings have been 'nulled', but if the comments still hang on...

Remember to reconsider board comments too. Frank J's remark "I very much appreciate the support and I will always give it back 10 fold!!!" sounds somewhat misleading now, considering how it all ended

Siteadvisor is also involved now. Here super-antivirus.com is rated green by you know who: www.siteadvisor.com/sites/super-antivirus.com

      Re: Damage report..?

He wasn't able to do any real damage. The system worked as designed and he wasn't able to manipulate reputations. His ratings are now ignored, all his comments were removed from scorecards, and his comment votes were cleared. It's almost as he never stopped by.

        Still many green comments

There are still 9 green ratings/comments on his own scorecard, and so far the green remarks outnumber the red. I've PM'd people suggesting that they might want to reconsider their vote...

He's also loose on siteadvisor, but I've been there too...

    Friend of WOT

I doubt you can do anything about the "Friend of WOT" sticker this clown displays on his site, but he is certainly not a "Friend of WOT".

There's no need for that. The WOT seal on his site now reads:"Reputation of this site:POOR with a big light red doughnut next to it. LOL.

          Hm, maybe...

I tried to visit the site, but... first I got WOTs warning screen. Then I got WOT. Perhaps this is his last trick (so far): letting WOT warn users to visit WOT. Yes, I think most people will know what happens, but there will always be some who doesn't. Sigh...

Btw, the scam site is still unrecognized by McAfee; Siteadvisor still rates it gray, and he still isn't banned for abusing the system. Then again, SA fell asleep long ago. Another sigh...

    Re: Super-Antivirus

He won't be answering questions on the forum, because his account is banned. It's also possible there was more than one perpetrator involved. From the looks of it at least some of them might be high school students, so perhaps they were just doing it for the lulz.

    PM story

I said in the techjaws thread that I had a "PM" story about this idiot, so here it is:

A few weeks ago I got a PM from this guy asking me to rate his site. A reasonable request . . . so I took a look at it. Found a few minor flaws, like some others, but really couldn't find any evidence of malicious content or links, so like a lot of others I rated it green.

But I sent the guy a PM back and I told him, like Colin had said, that the name of his domain was less than positive considering all the scams going around with similar names.

He sent me a PM back saying that he couldn't change domains, stated rather matter-of-factly. That was a curious response, and prompted me to send another PM to him suggesting he consider just buying another domain name and copy over the code to that if necessary.

Perhaps there was some cost involved for him, or it was an issue of links on other sites (wouldn't a redirect solve that problem?), or there was some other practicality I'm not aware of . . . I don't know. Was just suggesting an avenue that he might consider to get rid of that domain name associated with his site.

Was really curious why he insisted he couldn't do it. So when I saw I had a PM I was anticipating an explanation. The message he left was sort of curt and perhaps borderline abrasive: "Just forget it . . .".

Granted, Internet communications are without tone, so it's difficult to say that this guy was being abrasive, but I would have thought, being experienced, he would have used an emoticon if his tone was light.

Nevertheless, I didn't take it as an insult, but I did raise an eyebrow because of it.

I know I said in that techjaws thread that I had changed my rating because of this PM. That is misleading. Because I was a little uncomfortable with the rating I had made in light of that curious response, I went into the "My Ratings" section of my profile and deleted the rating I had made on his site.

But I did not re-rate it, as I might have implied in the techjaws post. I just wanted to stay "neutral" until I reacquired the comfort level I had once had (that, as it turned out, was the result of being duped . . . but I was in good company with the likes of Esa, Colin, g7w, and some others).

Though I guess a case could be made that the site itself is safe, while the owner was a scammer. Have never bothered to go back again and examine it. That is probably a philosophical judgment on "guilt by association", but as far as I'm concerned a low rating, as it now has, is appropriate.

Lesson for all of us, I guess.

      benefit of doubt

everyone deserves the benefit of doubt when requesting a rating for their website.
We as mere users do not have the facilities to examine IP, IP blocks, C-Networks, etc. to determine which WOT username may be associated with another. Everyone is an individual to us... All we can do is rate a site based upon it's content and the content for super-antivirus.com is safe and most of the advise offered on it is agreeable to many opinins expressed within these forums. However, the actions of that site's admin and the multiple spammer accounts set up on WOT proffers the site's current ratings.

            He'll be back...

I cannot predict the future, but most of the time "future" just means "more of the same".
yes, he's been lurking elsewhere. And he still still is...

He might even come back here one day, using a new name of course.
Why? Beause he's already done that, at least in one case we know of. Remember "Recurec", the site selling bogus seals? Well, that scam failed, but then he just went on disguised as a new user. He probably wanted his new site rated all green, while it only had innocent content. Then, he could always change content later, while keeping the rating. After all he still has more sites, that we don't know of...

I am quite sure that he willbe back in another disguise.

RecureC didn't last long and changed its name to cmsecurities which quickly went the same way. This guy has a lot more sites that we don;t yet know if, I am quite sure of that and will be spending some time trying to dig deeper :-)

    Thought . . .

Sami: "He won't be answering questions on the forum, because his account is banned."

It just ocurred to me that one of us could go to his site and leave a contact message for him that we're having fun over here at WOT talking about him (Or is it a her? I know "male" is shown on the profile but we've already learned that we can't trust what this person says) and dancing on his/her grave.

But that would be a pointless flame, and would probably be deleted by him/her anyway. A waste of bandwidth any way you look at it.
