Does anybody listen to Security Now?

    Our weekly audio security column
& podcast by Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte

TechTV's Leo Laporte and I take 30 to 90 minutes near the end of each week to discuss important issues of personal computer security. Sometimes we'll discuss something that just happened. Sometimes we'll talk about long-standing problems, concerns, or solutions. Either way, every week we endeavor to produce something interesting and important for every personal computer user. http://www.grc.com/securitynow.htm

    I found this interesting
    Episode #195 | 07 May 2009 | 85 min.
    The SSL/TLS Protocol

I put them on my Sony NWZ-B105F Walkman to listen at my leasure:

Leo and I plow into the detailed operation of the Internet's most-used security protocol, originally called "SSL" and now evolved into "TLS." The security of this crucial protocol protects all of our online logins, financial transactions, and pretty much everything else.

    Like him

I like most of what Gibson has to say, except sometimes he takes a "sky is falling", "take no hostages", "shoot the wounded", scortched earth approach.

Have downloaded the text of some of the podcasts. LaPorte seems to have a more balanced approach, but still I like to see what Gibsonb has to say.

Some say that Gibson has some kind of ax to grind with Microsoft because of some slight years ago (and I don't know the rest of that urban legend), but a lot of his comments on Microsoft's poor security are credible.

GRC.net has been a very useful website for years. Gosh, I recall that site back in 2002. I haven't listened to podcasts, though, so maybe it is time to.
