Suggestion !
In order to have a safe surfing session , there should be a minimum of precautions one should take before going out to rate sites or just surfing around , for that matter.
First and foremost , one should Always be Sandboxed. It's not like it's going to cost you anything because Sanboxie : http://www.sandboxie.com/ is totally Free. This is the first step one should take to avoid Any infections being downloaded onto your Hard Drive. You simply Delete the Sandbox once the session is done and close the Sandbox process.
You should also configure your browser to Clear all personal data and cache along with the undesired cookies at the close of the browser. This can be done whether you use IE or Firefox and I suppose in other browsers as well.
Always have your Antivirus and Antispyware Up to Date. before going on a rating session. This alone will save you some grief .
There are other apps or plug ins that can be added to either your security setup or your browser but, for the most part , these are essential steps.
Athlonite.
Your help is always needed.

Suggestion 2
NoScript for FireFox is also recommendable. It disallows any script and similar - unless you allow it to run. But once you've whitelisted a site, you wont be bothered again. A much more flexible approach than simply prohibiting scripts in general.
Btw, I'm not suggesting NoScript in stead of a sandbox. NoScript is a simpler program, but also easier to use and requiring less resources. Even the best program is no good if not used.
The simplest method is probably Samis advice: Open new and unknown sites in a separate tab - then you can close it by a single click and "get out of here"...
Whatever you choose : the best solution is still the one that suits you best. Quoting Sct. Bob: "Between the extremes of caution and blissful ignorance, there is some comfort point, which will be different for everyone. I choose to run some risks, if they entail compensatory advantages, while avoiding others."

Suggestion 3
If a site is marked with a Red icon, don't go to it.
If the site is unrated, please rate it and tell us why you rated it low.

Blocking action in settings
Setting up blocking action on red sites
Press the WOT icon and click Settings.
Hit the Warnings tab.
On the color bar chart on the right, fill in what is necessary, like maybe up to Poor (red-orange), etc.
Switch the behavior on anyone of them wanted, to Blocking, instead of Warning.Upside: you get protected every time on Poor or Very Poor.
Downside: it shows WOT loading every website before continuing which is a 1-2 second delay loading each site.===========
