Pilot test for WOT - Surf Canyon search refinements

search refinement WOT helps make your Web searches safer, and now with the help of Surf Canyon, we also make them smarter. WOT has joined with Surf Canyon to test a new search refinement feature that offers you customized suggestions with your search results, and we'd like your feedback. A small group in the USA and Finland are part of a random selection of users that will see occasional "WOT Safe Search" refinements on Google searches. Update your add-on to see if you are part of the group, and then please share your opinion about this feature. Of course, if you don't want the search refinement links, you can turn it off by clicking the [x] next to the refinements. Let us know what you think about the WOT Safe Search refinements in the comments section below. Thanks!

    thank you Wot Team i must say this is Great from you to protect us from hackers and viruses and all this ugly things that only exists to make us the life moore hard

    what we must do is : " Kill all this Virus " i would be glad and happy to work with you here in Wot to find and destroy this viruses cause i am Hunter, i love to hunt and destroy or inform you " hey i found a virus and now we will eliminate him " so please whrigt to me if you have a job for me because the most important thing in life is : to be clean in this world and to do the things excellent and perfect and I know 100 % that i am a very profesional Hunter of bad viruses that is my mission in this life and yes the antivirus must be free for all because free we born also its not fair that first we spend a lot of money for a new computer and than comes walking a dirty cheater virus to kill us the programs no no this is not justice ! so i hope for a good excellent war program where we can kill viruses for ever ! this will be named : " destroy the enemy viruses for a better clean " so thank you team of Wot that God bless you all Henry

      Yes, the pilot is initially restricted to these two countries. If the experiment goes well and user reaction is positive, we'll enable it for more users.

    Is WOT entering commercial promotion business?

    Interesting to note that "wot safe search" is a kind of rewrite of the results we may see on google posted on top of your main search.
    I tried it on the name of an enterprise "acutron"
    result:

    ********************************************************************
    nothing relevant there...

    and then directly on surf canyon PT "dog adoption"->

    only the third result is half relevant, if one accesses your site, maybe he/she will access errantes.org, which is a dog adoption legal association site with those keywords, yes, and a good reputation on WOT.

    from that point on, some relevant results on the first page, nothing on the second page with on top things as
    "WHY BOYCOTT MACDONALD'S AND COCA-COLA"

    Wouldn't it be better just to unclutter search engine results by lowering the relevance of sites with a bad WOT rating?

    I leave the suggestion and recommend WOT to everybody as a must-have add-on.

      We are experimenting with this as one source of revenue while hoping the feature will be useful to our users.

      We don't actually provide the refinements or the search engine, both come from Surf Canyon. We have no plans at this point for our add-on to actually start modifying search results.

    I don't like it. It takes a split second to appear and that is often enough for me to misclick a link. I'd like an option to disable this. I can see red unsafe icons.
