Re: Outrageous ratings
I got the big warning screen. I was very suprised
You have then configured the add-on to warn you about unsatisfactory reputations, because by default it won't warn you about them. That may result in excessive warnings, but it's your choice, of course.
I found that the warning was based on five ratings
No, the reputation is based on a lot more ratings than five. What you see on the scorecard are comments, not ratings. Leaving comments is completely optional and they don't affect the reputation. Of course, it seems the site is also blacklisted in hpHosts, so that probably has something to do with the unsatisfactory reputation in the two components.

Green
On the scorecard, powweb shows as green on "Trustworthiness" and "Child Safety", yellow on "Vendor Reliability" and "Privacy".
So you must have your warnings for "Vendor Relaibility" and/or "Privacy" set to Yellow.
As far as hpHosts, maybe Steve will chime in here. (Steve, AKA "Mystery FCM", runs hpHosts).
And just to reinterate what Sami said, comments are NOT ratings. The site is green for Trustworthiness!

webhosts
This subject has come up several times in the past.
Should Google be rated red because a search result contains malicious domains?
No
Should a webhost be rated red from the content that it's users make available?
No, yes, depends...
Large hosting services, especially those that offer free hosting will be abused.
Many catch the abuse early, some suspend pages when informed of abuse.
These hosts are responsible and should be rated as such (green)
There are those hosts that do nothing or even promote malicious sites and should be rated accordingly (red).Powweb has been around since 1999 and is a large and generally speaking responcible webhost. They were bought out a couple of years ago and seemed to have slacked off with their support causing clients to look elsewhere for hosting services, but they do not (yet anyways) deserve a red rating. I'm not sure why hpHosts has them listed for EMD but I'm sure Steven has good reason.
As for malicious domains residing with powweb.com, I do not see it:

Their IP is 65.254.250.20
Domain dossier-------
WOT Services Ltd. - gives us safety through Web of Trust.
WOT Community - gives us security through unity.
Thank you all

FYI
Just an FYI, this domain was added to hpHosts prior to my taking over, and I believe it was due to their affiliates redirecting via malware. I've now removed the site from the database.

Don't understand rating ...
Hi,
I wonder why it is possible that with a feedback like
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/pixmania.com/com...
a Web site can get an excellent ranking.I did spend an hour hanging on the phone this morning to cancel my master card because of a unauthorized booking from this company. Of course, somebody can say that it might be somebody else doing wrong here. However, two weeks ago, I got a strange phone call on my mobile from this company. The calling number was SUPRESSED! The guy on the other end of the line completely ingnored my comment that I did not know the Web page. About two weeks later I have now the unauthorized access to my credit card. In the time in between, there was no delivery of anything.
Cheers, kufischer

Because the reputation is based on ratings, not comments, and leaving a comment is purely optional. Therefore, usually only users who feel really strongly about the site for some reason choose to leave a comment.

Outrageous ratings
I'm new to WOT. Just now I opened the site of my web host, wich is Powweb.
I got the big warning screen. I was very suprised, but looked at the comments. I found that the warning was based on five ratings. Three of them was from dissatisfied customers. One warned that Powweb distributed malware.
Powweb is probably one of the biggest hosts on the net. It is hardly possible that all of their more than hundred thousand customers should be perfectly satisified with their service. That it is only four is in fact a very good mark.
Concerning the distribution of malware, not enough information was provided. I find this kind of lofty information not good.
If WOT cannot provide better quality in their way of reporting bad ratings, the very idea with WOT is compromised.
