    Dragons Files ( introduction )

    Hi, all.

    I am owner of Dragons Files. ( http://dragonsfiles.com )

Dragons Files is published 1st of October 2009.

Purpose of Dragons Files is to be similar like download.com, softpedia etc. With smaller resources and talents of coding.

I don't have much content in it yet ( actually i have only one "customer" currently, who gave me permission to host some of their files ), and theme&layout is evolving very often until i found good looking combo on it :)

I know it don't look super hot site, but please don't judge too harsh based on current content.

Site is been up only 6days now and i work only night shifts irl, don't have much spare time to surf&search authors who likes to get their files hosted/listed on Dragons Files.

    Thx all,

    Dragons Files

    Stuff wrongly catalogued

Your 5 downloads filed under the freeware sections have come out negative in tests on Virustotal. They are the only stuff there, but they aren't freeware.
I was taking a look at your site and I didn't want your site to be sunk under the forum topics, that's why I posted 1st.

    Growth

    Hi welcome to WOT Forum.
I'll be glad to rate your site when it's finished but with having only 1 DL available... that's a bit shy for a DL site. IMHO your site needs some growth before it can be rated. It wouldn't be fair to you as a Site Owner or to me as a WOT Rater to rate prematurely. Get the site done, list and link all your downloads, and don't forget to give credit where credit is due, meaning if you didn't create the file offered for DL, then link to the author's site/page, especially if the software is free and/or opensource.

    ....

Learn what FREEWARE is please. I'm getting sick to death of sites that claim to have freeware, when infact it's either adware, registrationware etc etc etc.

    Freeware:

    - Software that requires no payments (in any form)
    - Does not have registration requirements
    - Does not come with spyware/adware or other malware bundled inside it
    - Has all features 100% fully working
    - Does not have time limits
    - Does not require payment for access to support information
    - Allows you to freely share the program with friends, family and collegues

    Too early to be rated

Just as g7w told, you first need to setup your website before asking for rating, and make sure that you stick on to your own 'guidelines'. ;-)

Thank you all for comments. I have scanned and tested files and didnt find anything in those. I do rescan&test on files. For links to dev site, all info is in Links Collection.

Did not know that on freewares in my site, as info i got is from author, and author said its freeware.

You all have more experience on this, so could you please be kind and suggest me better description for downloads?

I looked at a few files, and

I looked at a few files, and the ones I looked at. Should be labeled "Trialware."

(From Wikipedia) Trialware; is commercial software released for free (shareware) in a version which is limited in one or more ways. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trialware

Correct me if I am wrong, anyone.

Ive talked ( about week now

Ive talked ( about week now ) with my friends too and asked their advice on this subject. All said same, it is very confusing to categorize, maintain and keep up.
They all suggested/advised me same, close site&think some else to use on your domain. They said that similar sites are dime in dozen and my is not any different on others. Ive been thinking those words alot and i agree with them. Its not time for my dream to come true just yet. Maybe someday. This project has began too difficult for me to handle in proper way.

There is so many things i havent figured out fully ( like registerware, i always have considered it as freeware etc ), and in my friends opinion ( and now mine too ) i was too haste on this dream.

Thank you all for good comments and hints&tips. I agree with my friends and take site down&think some else usage for it.

Maybe someday im more educated on this subject and im ready for opening my dream :)

Farewell, all. Keep up the spirit :)
