    www.godaddy.com has a good rating ?

    http://www.godaddy.com/

This site is known for its scam and phishing behavior in the entire community. Has A LOT of negative comments and still has a very good rating. I'm new to WOT, does anyone know what is going on ?

Comments don't affect rating, but how could rating keep so high if nobody likes this website ?

    I guess

I guess that GoDaddy looks somewhat like Google; both are very large providers of a very popular service, and therefore both will be abused accordingly. But, would you rate google red too..?

  2. No comments are not ratings, and not everyone who rates leave a comment...

Therefore, it is rated high by those who decided not to comment; many more than those who did.

GoDaddy is one of the largest domain name providers next to Network Solutions (which is "bigger" I do not know). Having millions of customers.

    Domain break down for 09/28/09

    • .com = 22,431,589
    • .net = 3,155,587
    • .org = 2,228,900
    • .biz = 515,976
    • .info = 2,349,516

    Trust of the system

I'm definitely sure that godaddy should not be red, but also not so sure that 90 for score rating of trust is right.

Also don't forget that godaddy keeps so many domains because you cannot take them out to other hosting providers. That's why it became so huge as depot and it's domain auction system get even more and more users that keep growing it's community which later cannot take a domain out.

What I was looking for is really to know that the rating wasn't an exploit to the WOT system and that it really reflected the community opinion.

    Thanks for your replies.

What I was looking for is

What I was looking for is really to know that the rating wasn't an exploit to the WOT system and that it really reflected the community opinion It's not an exploit and really reflects the community opinion. As I replied in another thread:

The reputation is based on ratings, not comments, and leaving a comment is purely optional. Therefore, usually only users who feel really strongly about the site for some reason choose to leave a comment

GodAddY pays a team of liars

GodAddY has a team of PR people who spend all day surfing the interweb looking for negativity against their scam company. I have a few blogs and every critique of any GodAddY failure, and there are plenty of GoddAddY failures, receives a rebuttal comment (itself filled with inaccuracies and outright lies)

        Proof

        Got evidence? Show us.

I'm no fan of Godaddy, but I expect claims like this against ANY company to be backed up with proof.

GoDaddy.com is safe and always will be...

I cannot even agree that it is bad! GoDaddy may allow tons of bad people buy a domain, does not justify them as being bad. GoDaddy hosts celebrities and public figures on their site to do advertising. If GoDaddy ever became bad, then a lot of people would be angry, now wouldn't they?

Three reasons why GoDaddy is not bad:

    1. Does not set harmful tracking cookies, or load your browser with malicious/ad-tracking popups.
    2. Does not try to exploit your browser.
    3. Does not use a back way out of the browser to launch on to your computer (bot).

Strong dishonesty might be the right term

I agree with you that godaddy does not have any malicious code. But dishonesty really doesn't depend upon that.

They are constantly trying to get a huge amount of useless services into your bill. How ?

You could try to register a domain for 10 dollars and then when you get to the final bill you could have a really enlarged budget. Many of those services cannot be removed from the bill because you cannot complete the registration. Worst than that, you will be subscribed to many features year after year with credit card or paypal even if you don't want to, there is no option to ONE payment only. Of course you may unsubscribe at any time...

Then why I would use Godaddy if I don't like them? As I mentioned before godaddy has a HUGE amount of domains that many webdevelopers could require and sometimes you have no other choice than negotiate one by auction or something like that. And (again) you cannot take your domain to other hosting because they don't let you do it (as other hosting providers do).

So... scam or not.... 90 points of thrust is really doubtful. I don't complain the community opinion, but I really required to know if this rating could be an exploit to WOT. As other users told me this rating reflected the community opinion, that is enough to me.

      Finally is the user choice.

GodAddY is as safe as playing russian roulette

http://NOdaddy.com has testimonies from actual people actually SCREWED by GodAddY.

      1. have you seen GodAddY 'free' domain parking pages?
      2. GodAddY does try to exploit the naive -- and succeeds
      3. GodAddY does have 'backdoors' in TOS that are so vague that anything can be inflicted

3b. GodAddY will seize a domain if GodAddY wants it.

3c. GodAddY will cancel registration if the 'right' kind of ILK whines despite ICANN rules and the first amendment

3d. GodAddY fancies themselves thought police

3e. GodAddY will not allow use of all the SPACE purchased in a 150 GIG webhosting package.

3f. GodAddY remains willfully ignorant with respect to apache
