HELP - Reputation rating

Trustworthiness shows the confidence users have in a site. Vendor reliability shows the accuracy, dependability and honesty of an online shopping experience. Privacy is the measure of trust a user has against intrusion or disturbance. Child safety signals the presence of age-inappropriate material or dangerous or illegal activities. The ratings position on the reputation rating scale is the result of combined data from WOT users, trusted sources and WOT administrators. The red to yellow to green colors have intuitive meaning.The category summary is aggregated from the comments section and includes feedback from users, trusted sources and WOT administrators.Confidence indicates the amount of supporting evidence.

Now, check its rating in SiteAdvisor, you will find the trust rating, or you won't find anything about it, why? because SiteAdvisor doesn't say anything about untested blogs or sites. 08/22/2008	MattLee	Useless	sorry siteadvisor has become a joke since mcafee took over. ... 27 sorry siteadvisor has become a joke since mcafee took over. its very biased. if there is a competitor they think ppl know very little about, they give the site a red rating until enough people complain. also they refuse to use white and blacklist and instead base things on their own antivirus which everyone knows is loaded with false positives and limited detection of real viruses. also they change the site color based on how many ppl complain. a site can go from red, to yellow, to green within a week. so basically those who use siteadvisor are going for an unreliable source who uses biased opinions, complaints by others and their own av. Now since WOT 3 Beta is released, I've seen the new WOT, related to SiteAdvisor's Users Responses, Site Rating Subject, and test message sources from different sources. I would say I would now support WOT more than SA now as WOT is now growing. Just MyWOT and SpywareBlaster, I guess... Found a malicious or fraudulent website? Rate it at WOT ASAP! Found a game hacker? Report it to the game's anti-cheat team! Infected with a virus? Delete it with an antivirus =P [ link to this comment ]

01/04/2009	Jon R	Useless	Its a nice idea (kind of like WOT) but its become utterly us ... 15 Its a nice idea (kind of like WOT) but its become utterly useless. The user reviews are full of people who know nothing. The rating system has become a popularity contest and not a way of telling a reviewers trustworthyness. Their auto-rating system is flawed, several good sites have een flagged red or yellow. Several very bad sites are green, probably due to the fact that Mcafee is terrible at catching anything. Stick with WOT it actually works. Additionally the ad-on seems to install a Mcafee service (besides siteadvisor) that serves no usefull purpose and is concerning. [ link to this comment ]

10/13/2008	PHMan	Useless	I have used SiteAdvisor and I'm disappointed to say that it ... 14 I have used SiteAdvisor and I'm disappointed to say that it has a lot of false positives and less accurate detection (i.e. freescreensaver.com and antispyware.org). Reviews tend to be inaccurate as they are bias (a couple users can mislead the reviews whilst Wot implemented an alogarithm which prevented from manipulation), weighted akwardly (red-linked sites = red site instantly), and generally useless (unless given a large user base). Overall, it failed my expectations as a decent site advisor. I'm definitely picking MyWot. [ link to this comment ]

That said, the SiteAdvisor Firefox extension remains a semi-useful tool with which to supplement other, better utilities. Having run both SiteAdvisor and WOT in parallel, I can say that WOT has picked up on more real threats than has SiteAdvisor. [ link to this comment ]
