Is there a WOT plug-in for Element browser?

Is there a WOT plug-in for Element browser? I have installed WOT on my Firefox web-browser but I would also like to have it installed on my other browser-Element browser.

Maybe in a coming update.

Hi this is patternjake from Element Software here (Jake Jackson).

At this moment in time, there is no WOT plugin avaliable for Element Browser. (Although Element Browser does feature SafeSurf, which provides some protection against malicious sites, although it is aimed at parental control)

We will talk to WOT later this year to see how we can get WOT avaliable for Element Browser, since its popularity has tripled in the thousands over the year.

Sorry...I do not trust Element Browser.

I have tested it once, and did not like it. I would not call it a rogue, but it is not desirable.

From the looks of it, WOT rates it Yellow, and AVG does too. AVG says phishing. So what is that about?

Now, tell me...is this warning for your domain, or just co.cc - as AVG says?

The resolution for your domain failed. http://hosts-file.net/default.asp?s=element.co.cc

I would recommend, if you want to maintain your reputation, to go ahead and have the browser download hosted on a clean IP. Every other site on the IP you are on is blamed for malware distribution or phishing.

man, just use sandboxie

man, just use sandboxie IE/FF & u'll should be fine, why?element...

Käyttäjän kuva

Thats odd!

ElementBrowser.co.cc is just a domain alias....

The real element browser site is hosted on www.elementsoftware.co.uk/elementbrowserhome.htm, on our secure server.

It must be the CO.CC domain alais forwarding service that has this problem.

LOL We cant host malware ourselves since we also major in AV research and development. Very strange indeed.

Its obviously the co.cc service. We will be instantly taking action and removing our site from the forwarding service.

We recommend to all users that you go to www.elementsoftware.co.uk directly.

Thank you jpvip for pointing this out.

re: elementsoftware.co.uk

Lots of software there and all for free.
Before I start downloading and playing around I ask one small question:
"What's the catch?"

Catch?

Hmm im not sure I fully understand. We do not distrubute malware... Although we do distrubute an antivirus ourselves, kinda goes against the whole point of our being otherwise xD

The majority of our software is freeware, we mainly work on a donationware / advertisements on site based revenue. What you see is what you get.

...

I have queued the site for testing in my lab. :)

I will post results back here.

re: catch

Hmmm.. apologies for using American slang. I suppose you could consider catch to be a "hidden condition, requirement, or expectation in exchange for something advertised as free." I believe this roots to a fishierman's phrase of "catch of the day"

You've explained yourself well enough though with the donations/advertisements as monetary reimbursement.

I agree and...

I have rated your site green.

umm...

Not saying that you distribute malware, but you could be blocked by IP blacklists. The IP range you are on, distributes malware & does other bad activities, see here: http://hosts-file.net/?s=213.171.218.116&view=matc...

no offense...but read...

I said IP range. Not its own IP. For example, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware might block elementsoftware.co.uk because it is on the same IP range as other malware sites. Not exactly is that website a distributor of malware, but since it is on the same IP range (213.171.218.24-213.171.218.213), then it will still be blocked.

re: read

I did
and as I stated, shared IP's are not *blocked* only dedicated ones.
If for example Malwarebytes were to start blocking shared IP's because of 1 or 2 or 11 malicious domains and the IP has 100's of others, I would have to stop using them because they are no longer a reliable source of protection.

There is a difference between a shared IP and an IP that shares across like domains:
Example would be 127.0.0.1 that has 10 domains:
AntivirusNOT01 - AntivirusNOT10 all owned by registrant "MalwareMonger"
This is a dedicated IP to MalwareMonger who is hosting 10 malicious domains; then the IP as well as all domains residing upon it should be blacklisted and rated red in WOT.

Though there have been cases where some IP C-NET /25 blocks are *all* malicious

Sorry for another reply

It seems that all sites that use co.cc forwarding no longer appear. Maybe Co.CC have been forced offline?

Very strange indeed.

ooops....my bad

I guess those co.cc sites did not have to stay up after all...

Expand on that?

jpvip: I have tested it once, and did not like it. I would not call it a rogue, but it is not desirable.

Could you maybe expand on that? Its nice to receive feedback on one of our products.

(Also mention what version you used, since its launch, Element Browser has been rewritten many times throughout its development cycle, we recommend you use 2.0.12 version btw)
