WOT bookmarklet for Safari and Opera

Safari and Opera don’t currently allow browser extensions in the same way as Firefox and Internet Explorer do, and therefore, providing WOT for these environments is not feasible. However, as a response to requests from our users, we have created a WOT bookmarklet that brings at least some of the functionality to the users of these two popular browsers.

If you are using Safari or Opera, you can add the WOT bookmarklet to your browser simply by dragging this link to your bookmarks.

Using the bookmarklet is simple: click the bookmark and it will display a WOT popup on the page, showing ratings for the current site. Another click will hide the popup. This gives you an easy access to WOT reputation data, although you won't be able to give your own ratings.

Implementing userJS

I've seen SEObar (http://www.puzzleclub.ru/files/seobar/) implement userJS in Opera to display its toolbar. Isn't it possible to use this technology to show MyWOT toolbar in opera?

Re: Implementing userJS

Well, it would allow us to automate the bookmarklet, but it still doesn't allow saving state or manipulating user interface, which makes implementing a toolbar unfeasible.

works sometimes on Chrome

Since Chrome has some Safari core, I tried this bookmark in Chrome. It works sometimes. For example, I did a google search on "cheap memory" (no quotes) in both Firefox and Chrome. On some sites I got the same ratings. On others, like on the link for crucial memory (an ad) I got red circles on Firefox and green circles on Chrome.

Amazing!

I have about 5 browsers installed and use WOT on supported ones. But this bookmarklet is truly amazing in order to bring the most function of WOT possible to browsers that don't support add-ons (yet), such as Opera, Safari, and Google Chrome. Great job on this!

Surf the web. The safe way.

Re: Bookmark

How about if you simply bookmark the link? I believe you'll need to add it to your bookmark toolbar for it to work on some browsers.

Doesn't opera support

Doesn't opera support netscape extentions? Can't that be used to make Web Of Trust for Opera?

Re: Doesn't opera support

You are confusing extensions with plugins. Plugins display content embedded on a web page, while extensions are used for adding features to the browser itself.

Opera supports NPAPI, which means you can use plugins like Adobe Flash with it. However, it doesn't support extensions.

Nice,but...

A very nice idea, but I wish it had the --->view scorecard link<---, was able to identify your username (the sync feature), and had more accurate ratings (comes out differently in some browsers on some pages). But atleast I can use it in Opera,Safari,Chrome and all browsers that don't support addons, but now I am back on Firefox thanks to making it faster by changing some of the browser.

WOT

@Chris Freemantle just bookmark the link and give it a name as "WOT" or anything that you like.
Now just go to Manage Bookmarks(Ctrl+Shift+B (default)) and right click on the bookmark you just saved as WOT.
There select -Show on Personal Bar.
Make sure you have selected to view the Personal Bar.(View -> Toolbars -> Personal Bar)
And there you are.You have a WOT on your Personal Bar.

works with epiphany too. Just drag in to your bookmark-bar, rename it to something more appropriate and you're all set.

cheers
