Which is better for use wioth WOT - ADblock Plus or NoScript
nie 17 sie 2008 03:11:31 UTC — Universal344I currently use WOT in conjunction with NoScript, but I've heard a lot of talk about AdBlock Plus. What is this software? Is it free? Does it function in the same way as NoScript? Is it better than NoScript?

I use both
nie 17 sie 2008 13:51:44 UTC — Security_WizI use both of the add-ons. NoScript is great with blocking the ads that ABP doesn't block well, and NoScript also blocks scripts and is lighter, so NoScript is probably better, but I use both. ABP is great for statistics, and gets updated frequently.
ADP: 8.7/10
NS: 8.5/10
If you use a Mac (like me), NoScript is just to make you feel safer, it won't really help you much.

nie 17 sie 2008 16:27:05 UTC — SamiI'm pretty sure these add-ons have different purposes. While Adblock Plus might help with security problems sometimes, it's main purpose is to block ads. While NoScript can block ads sometimes, it's purpose is to improve your security by stopping scripts.

Along with Adblock Filterset.G Updater...Lists I use are: Easylist and EasyElement (loaded seperately within Adblock Plus)...

No Script
pon 18 sie 2008 18:12:10 UTC — Computer RookieI use No Script, Adblock Plus & CS Lite. The latter works just like No Script except it blocks cookies. I don't like all those tracking cookies. Only sites that need to recogniize me because of settings need to be let in. Yeah No Script can be a pain, but I like the safety. I've never had a virus or spyware, plus I'm careful what sites I go on.
Block some or all...?

There are plenty of scripts that are safe and not being able to see forms on web pages, use traffic exchanges and miss out on specials because they are all written in javascript ruins my surfing experience. If you have a good antivirus and firewall program then No Script is a waste of time. I use Panda and it catches everything. Stops viruses and spyware dead in it's tracks.
Now if you use McAfee or Nortons both being less effective antivirus programs then you would probably want to use No Script for safety and enable every site you can trust. Even the free antivirus programs plus the free Adaware work way better then Nortons or McAfee.

NoScript blocks everything, but not so automatic.
Adblock is probably the best as a beginning,
NoScript a later possibily of finetuning things.

NoScript works by identifying the start, and end of each script and blocks processing them until the user acknowledges it to run or not. Hostile scripts work because they run invisible in the background without the user knowing. NoScript effectively interferes in this process, As a result Noscript combined with a tool such as WOT, should prove invaluable to secure ones online experience! They are easy, and they work!

Although ads run on scripts, for enhanced security, I recommend using AdBlock Plus and NoScript with WOT.
