myFasterPC.com

A few days ago I visited this site and it's reputation was in the green.
Same as the "author's" site: consumersoft.com
as is the other product offered: flashcookiecleaner.com

I downloaded the "free trial" from myfasterPC.com and installed via a sandbox, then tested tit out.
It did not find many problems with my PC, it did find some old registry items from programs removed long ago that still left some keys, it did find current IE, FF, and Opera cached internet files, and it's report for optimization was only 2 items (forget exactly what they were now, but they were moot IMO).

All in all ...
Not a rogue program, nothing via virustotal, nothing trying to scare me into making a purchase. No, it's not free but it's not nagging me to purchase.

I have not rated myfasterpc.com or consumersoft.com because I wanted to get some time to test out the "cookie cleaner"

I notice now myfasterpc.com is red, consumersoft.com is yellow - neither have negative comments, just ratings, controversia ratingsl for myfasterpc and flashcookiecleaner.com is still green.

Anyone have opinions of these sites and the products offered?
Anyone tested any of the products yet?
I'm curious why the sudden change from green to red - comments sure do help rectify questions...

Not sure what to say other than I don't think you should be rating computer software if you cant see a problem with this crap. Horrible on both a technical and business level - actually a 100% scam since they pretend to know about computers/Windows.

About myfasterpc dot com, "fix 20 errors for free" says it all.

Just another page pushing software which does not even offer fully functional trial. Why do I get the feeling this software WILL find more than 20 errors? :D

Proper software, such as jv16 Powertools, will offer a fully functional trial period so the potential customer can properly evaluate the software.

There are many things to go RED about but I don't see much difference whether it adds a bit to findings, nags/begs (which it does btw.) Program and site is still a very obvious scam in this context which is "System diagnostic software" in their own words. I give you PC OPTIMIZER http://www.myfasterpc.com/app/v5/pc-optimizer.asp laughable. This is cheating on clueless people and programs becomes a scam once again.

When you want to make use of 25% discount, now only 30$ if you disregard the "highly recommended" download service! 50$ for use on 2 computers! you ALSO get The Surf Shield listed, comes out of no where - only 40$ http://www.thesurfshield.com/ Tactic ring a bell? Notice similarities? 1, 2, 3, many.

I have the feeling it is more or less the same old code running in all these type of programs, GUI perhaps "fixed up" by cheap outsourced programmers. There is probably a real genuine market for this, "Registry Cleaner Deluxe, easy to change GUI and brand the hell out of it! Only 750$ this week" Like there is a market for malware. Code, functionality is the least important. Need it to work on at least Vista though. When bought and "fixed", Chinese/India programmers are ready, rest is simple marketing, making sure it is not detected by AVs is top priority (Check Emsisoft regarding MyFasterPc btw) and why you see "Consumersoft" make a big deal out of that at Siteadvisor comments - when he rate own site of course. He and his friends/alter egos are on a campaign, don't forget Tucows icons! Easy place to fool and we need something "trustworthy" for frontpage. All this like 100s before them. WOT probably counts too! Is it not the same string of events every time?
