Overview of WOT in Russia
Tue 08 May 2012 10:23:16 AM UTC — annaleenaThere has been a lot of going on for WOT in the Russian markets lately. Our team has been strengthened with Igor and Anna, who will be focusing on growing and serving the community in Russia.
We had a little chat with Anna to see how things are progressing.
Anna, how is it going in the Russian markets?
Our user base in Russia is growing faster than anywhere else. We have nearly 4 million downloads there, which makes it the third biggest country in total, right after the US and Germany. WOT’s partnering with Russia’s biggest free email service provider Mail.ru, and protects their users against untrustworthy links. All in all, I could say it’s going very well. However, we’re not done – there’s huge potential in the markets.
What have you been doing lately?
So far, we’ve been strengthening WOT’s presence in Russian social media channels. We’ve also participated in major Russian Internet events, for example in the Mail.ru Tech Forum, the Safe Internet Forum, and the Russian Internet Forum “RIF+KIB 2012” in Moscow. Web security was a focus area in these events, and there has been lots of interest towards WOT. Next you can meet us at the St. Petersburg Internet Conference in May 28-29.
What would you like to say to the Russian speaking community?
It’s our pleasure to work with you all to grow our community further in Russia and in Russian speaking countries. Please keep rating sites and recommending WOT to your friends for a safer Runet (Russian Internet).
To stay ahead of what’s happening for WOT in Russia, like our new Facebook page in Russian, and find us on VKontakte!

WOT made it to the finals for Red Herring Top 100 Europe Award
Thu 05 Apr 2012 10:38:02 AM UTC — annaleena
Just a few days after announcing the About.com Reader's Choice Award for Best Privacy / Security Add-on category, we have good news again: WOT Services Ltd, the company behind WOT, has been selected as a Finalist for Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe award!
The Red Herring editorial team selected the most innovative companies from a pool of hundreds from across Europe. The nominees are evaluated on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their respective industries.
"As the success in About.com Readers' Choice Awards attested to WOT's popularity among web users, being selected as a Finalist for Red Herring's Top 100 Europe award shows that we're also respected as a company. Both acknowledgements are extremely important feedback for the work of our company and the whole WOT community", says Vesa Perälä, CEO of WOT.

Changes to the Safari add-on
Wed 28 Mar 2012 11:51:27 AM UTC — annaleenaDo you use Safari and a version older than 5.1? Consider updating your browser for a more fluent user experience with WOT. In the older versions the rating window was injected to the page, which caused problems on some websites. Newer versions of Safari support native pop-ups for toolbar buttons like other browsers.
