. . . is a dangerous site where clicking on advertisements will give you virus warnings. However, I was only given an opportunity to rate . . .

- a very different thing all together. It's my opinion that I should have had an opportunity to rate the actual URL where the danger is and that the administrators should understand that just because "mild.com" deserves a green rating doesn't mean that "mild.com/blahblah/yaddayadda" can't possibly be dangerous.
I'm hoping that URL will turn red soon as it should be. If you click on just the posted images though; you're safe.

Re: Unable to rate dangerous sub-domain site
Чтв 21 Авг 2008 10:39:45 — SamiYou are able to rate the subdomain, but not the URL path. We've discussed this a few times in the past, but it's rather unlikely that we'll ever support rating the entire path, at least not for all websites.
Re: Unable to rate dangerous sub-domain site
Чтв 21 Авг 2008 21:55:39 — btezraIt's clearly a complex thing. You do it the same way McAfee Site Adviser does it so I guess it's the way it has to be.
I speculate though . . .
Suppose you're at a web page that clearly deserves a red rating yet the WOT icon for it is green. If a person observes such a wide discrepancy between the previously existing rating and the reality of that specific URL, there should be some sort of "DANGER IN APPARENT SAFETY" button he could push and then copy and paste the full URL into a field [to address the privacy issue]. Then, If a certain number of people press the "DANGER IN APPARENT SAFETY" button for that URL then that entire URL would automatically get it's own separate rating based upon the info provided so far by the people who pushed the "DANGER IN APPARENT SAFETY" button. Perhaps this should be limited to things of a truly dangerous nature (virus warnings, dangerous software downloads, phishing sites Etc.)
In regards to temporary URLs: Is there any way to detect that a URL is no longer valid? Often, when a URL is defunct, the person trying to go there will be redirected. Perhaps re-directs can be detected. Perhaps some information could be provided that would enable users to tell if a wed page is defunct so that they can provide that information.
Actually
Сбт 23 Авг 2008 05:26:00 — btezraOkay - I realized I didn't understand and therefore didn't properly address the privacy issue. It seemed like a workable idea at the time. I still wish there was some way around this.
