    awesome bar problem

i've had wot for a a long while now, love it.
however, recently i've been having a problem loading certain pages.

i have 'block' over warn, and though it slows down browsing a bit i prefer it.
using firefox's awesome bar, normally if i typed 'google' in the top the page would load ( www.google.com).

well, recently when EVER i type a single word (no matter how long) into the awesome bar, the page never loads. the 'wot loading website' stays up and clicking the wot website data (now transparent with an 'x') yields: 'failed to load ratings, retrying shortly'
typing the actual site in, or using more than one word will fix this.

changing 'blocking' to 'warning' fixes this.

i'd like to see if this is just my computer or if this is an actual bug.
i'm using the latest firefox 3.0 (3.0.13), if anybody else can try to replicate my results.

    re: latest firefox 3.0 (3.0.13)

Firefox current is 3.5.2 via www.mozilla.com

I use Warn, not block and a very low Warn at that - otherwise I could not visit the sites I rate low to warn other users.

Try clearing your cache = everything
and if that doesn't help, try a creating new profile in case your current one is corrupted.

      re: incompatibilities

      I'm curious...
What are the incompatibilities on a system that can run FF3.0.x and not 3.5.x

      Also...
Try creating a new profile - more than likely a "fix."

    firstly, i updated firefox

firstly, i updated firefox to 3.5
i then also tried disabling every other addon besides wot.
    same problem still.

i'm going to try making a new profile and seeing if that helps.
and has anybody followed my steps to try replicating the bug?

    replicated

I went in to Settings, changed to "Default" warnings, click "Blocking" on all categories
saved settings, opened a new tab entered "google" in the address bar and got the WOT icons as you displayed in your pic along with a chrome:// address.

I went back to Settings, restored my personal preferences, saved and opened a new tab, entered "google" into the address bas and get the OpenDNS error We did not find any results for: google

You are forgetting to add 1 small thing, the dot com.
enter google.com into your address bar either warnings, or blocking and the site loads just fine.

google - does not resolve, there is no TLD appended to the domain name
google.com - resolves, this is a proper domain name.

yeah, i know i could type

yeah, i know i could type the .com in, and that will work.

however, 'google' works when wot is disabled, why wouldn't it work with wot enabled?
i used to commonly type 'youtube' or 'gmail' etc. into the awesome bar to go quickly to the site. (or anything else typed in yields a google search of the text) it should work, i'm not understanding why it doesn't.

Re: yeah, i know i could type

it should work, i'm not understanding why it doesn't

It doesn't work, because the add-on doesn't try to guess the TLD if one is missing. If you have blocking disabled, Firefox tries to guess for you.
