Did I ever say I love WOT? No? Okay, I love WOT ;-!

Somebody just tried to lure me to a bad rated site on facebook, and thanks to our community I got warned.

Thank you and keep on going!
    Alex

    We got WOT !

I have converted many people to WOT, from zero-knowledge computer users (family, the nanny of my kids, etc.) to geeks (colleague, friends and more)

    They all love it.

That's what I love in WOT: It's usefull to all categories of computer users, whatever knowledge they have.

And look at all those new antiviruses (Microsoft, Norton...): They now all use user-rating system to protect users from malicious files.
Looks like WOT system was a good idea.

    Slam

I don't disagree that WOT is a good concept . . . and of course I am a supporter and proponent.

Interestingly, though, the usual slam on WOT is the same as it is on all safe-link rating services: Sites are unjustly rated.

WOT, however, unlike McAfee Site Advisor (which started these claims because of their bureaucratic appeals procedure that often takes a year or more to correct ratings via emails to SiteAdvisor), affords almost instant appeals via this very forum.

I mean, a site owner, with a good argument, can appeal to this forum, and if it's warranted raters will go back and look at the site and re-rate if necessary to correct. That's a heck of a lot faster than emails to SiteAdvisor . . . if they have any effect at all.

So, the slam on WOT basically puts WOT in the same category as SiteAdvisor . . . which it isn't.

The misunderstanding that many users have is that all safe-link add ons are the same . . . not so in the case of WOT.

In any case, my compliments as always to the WOT people.

      +1

WOT [...] affords almost instant appeals via this very forum.

      +1
I got the case with sk1project.com (good opensource vector tools) which was misrated red because of DNS-BH (MalwareDomains), and thus in WOT.

I could turn the rating back to green thanks to WOT forums and its members.

That's the difference between human rating (WOT) and robot rating (McAfee, with their link-scanning system).
