Feedback as wished
Fri Oct 16 13:06:47 2009 — FlyAquaIn my opinion, there should be some changes to that plan.
Sites with a lime-green rating often have something that prevents them from being excellent - such as popular sites that many users rate excellent without thinking - while in fact they have viruses or something like that. I've come across a copule of such sites in the past. So I strongly suggest to only offer the badge for excellent reputations. And if that's not possible, there should be a clear sign that the lime-green reputation could be better, such as a bar from red to excellent marking the position of the website. And if the website happens to turn yellow - the badge should disappear immediately.
Furthermore, sites that only one bronze member has rated are in my opinion not certain enough to carry such a badge. So I also would only offer the badge for sites with enough confidence.
WOT is an awesome, reliable, independent tool for online safety - we really do not want it to get easy security holes do we.
But as I said in the earlier blog post, I am supporting that programme.

Thanks for the feedback
Fri Oct 16 14:18:03 2009 — Deborah S.We have thought about the criteria for CTN candidates, and we agree with your assessment, so there is a confidence threshold. (Remember, your bronze member's activity score, which determines which level he is on, is not the same as the reliability of his ratings.)
We are in agreement if a site's reputation diminishes as well. The badge will disappear if the reputation rating dips below the green
Keep asking questions and making recommendations. We read every one, and stop to review what we have decided to make sure it's the best way to go.
I also agree with FlyAqua's
Mon Oct 19 04:16:16 2009 — SpacequadI also agree with FlyAqua's assessment with the threshold on the green status. If it drops below that level, they should loose that status, until the ratings go back up.

Sat Oct 17 06:19:32 2009 — WeJudgeUsThat's a really good initiative that WOT has taken. It will surely help both new and old websites to boost the confidence of their users, and gradually, their trustworthiness. But, just as FlySquad suggested, not all who are 'Green' should be accepted. It would be better if the websites can be filtered.
Maybe you can place the domains selected, for a review in the WOT forums, where the other users can confirm that the site on review is worth the membership.
This is just a suggestion. I am also in support of this programme.

As a site owner, what is
Sat Oct 17 12:30:15 2009 — Destinii HaruyaAs a site owner, what is your biggest challenge to get people to register, to complete a purchase, or to participate on your site?
My biggest challenge in gaining participants is definitely the reputation that my chosen medium has. Imageboards, in general, are known as either oversized P2P file-sharing sources, unmoderated dens of depravity, or simply mountains of spam. I chose imageboards because I believed that an anonymous community, although rather hard to moderate, would not have the amount of user elitism that is so common in registration-only communities. However, it is very hard to shake off the reputation that imageboards have.

Mon Oct 19 04:30:27 2009 — SpacequadAs a site owner, what is your biggest challenge to get people to register, to complete a purchase, or to participate on your site?
Our biggest challenge is to get registered users interested in actually posting their own view points and stories about their experiences or problems that they have faced. We provide the articles for all to view, however, all we have ever asked is to register, as so that we know who is posting. This is all because we want factual postings and not more garbage spam postings without some type of explanation behind it, given the nature of our site. We do not actively advertise because of the idea that people in general have enough spam on their plate without having to shovel more in to eat. With that said, I personally think that we could use more content writers and investigators to participate so that the public can benefit further.

My biggest challenge is to get qualified customers to my website from a search on google or other search engines. Once they are on my website I have a high percentage of sales to registrations. My other challenge is to get these customers to participate in my site be giving ratings on my products.
I am a very small business owner and I don't have the monetary resources yet to hire help, so I do all the work myself.
