Categories provide greater transparency to the reasons behind users’ ratings and reviews. In practice, this means that when submitting a rating, you are asked to select one or more categories in order to provide supporting evidence for your assessment. These categories are then visible to other users helping them make informed decisions whether to visit a site or not.

If your site has no reputation it means that not enough people have rated it yet.

The best way to start is to ask your customers and friends to rate the site. We also recommend that you verify the ownership of your site, which allows you to request a site review on our forum. Please be sure that your site has a proper privacy policy before requesting review, especially if one is required by local law or due to the nature of your website.

Check your site's scorecard for details on where your site was blacklisted, and for what reason. Visit the list maintainer's site to learn more about the issue and how to resolve it. Your site's reputation is based on ratings from other users, and information from third party sources. If you want to improve the reputation, we recommend asking your friends, business partners, blog followers, or customers to submit ratings for the site. You can either ask them to use the WOT add-on, or simply point them to your site's scorecard where they can rate the site after creating an account.

If your site has a poor reputation, we also recommend submitting a review request on our forum. Everyone who has rated your site poorly will be notified of your request and asked to review it again. WOT regulars are also very good at spotting issues on websites and suggesting solutions.

WOT reputation ratings are updated every 30 minutes on average, although the information on scorecards can be cached for up to an hour. The reputations change only when a website receives new ratings, when ratings are deleted, or when the users who have rated it before change their ratings. Note that the weight of old user ratings decrease over time, and very old ratings will eventually expire completely.

Most likely your site is hosted as a subdomain of a shared domain owner by your hosting service, and the poor reputation is inherited from the parent domain. You can see if that's the case from the site's scorecard. In case the reputation is inherited, you may want to move your site to more trustworthy hosting service, but the reputation will also improve once your subdomain has enough ratings of its own. Start collecting new positive ratings by following the instructions here. Once there are enough ratings for your site, the parent domain's reputation no longer affects it.

WOT is not a blacklist, it's a service that shows you reputation ratings and allows you to rate websites. Reputation ratings in WOT are primarily based on ratings from our users. Please see this answer for ways to improve your site's reputation.

In addition to user ratings, WOT uses third-party trusted sources, which includes blacklists. If your site has been blacklisted by a third-party source, you will see that on your site’s scorecard on the “Information from third-party sources” section. To solve the issue, you should contact the blacklist provider directly. Once your site is removed from the blacklist, the information is updated automatically to WOT.
