RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

I leave a comment for nearly all sites i rate.

so the visitor and the owner knows who rated a site and why. And if something is changed or i'm wrong, i can be contacted.

I might not comment if a site is rated good, i agree and many other comments, same content, maybe with more info, are made

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

I often leave a comment for sites that I rate, although I do also use the agree button rather than leave a comment if the comment I agree to already says all that needs saying.

I always leave a comment for sites that I rate red so that the site owner can know what the issues are, and so that the site owner can PM me if the ratings need to be reviewed.

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

Sometimes I would rate and leave a comment, for sites I do have a strong opinion about. The majority of the time I would just post a rating. Usually folks would cover what is needed in the comments section.

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

Every single one , though sometimes is rather difficult not be redundant , take for example a museum or a news site , besides the obvious I have no idea what else to comment

Good site , safe to visit site

Now when a site is compromised or downright bad , that is when it becomes problematic , for a site can be safe to visit , but unethical in its content or service

Take for example those sites that provide loans at 1000 % , some of the sites are safe to visit , but in my opinion , they are bad to the bone and that is when I don't have any idea as to which comment , I should leave [ I would much prefer to call it legalized crime ] not so much for the owner , but for whoever may wonder , why is this site red

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

I leave a comment for the most of sites that I rate.
I hardly leave a comment on a good site scorecard while visiting it, whilst I occasionally do not leave comments on bad sites scorecards when there are comments enough.

Although I believe that a comment is important to help others to understand what they are about to face, I wonder what the most of mywot members would understand if I left comments in my mother tongue only ; )

As for 30 characters required I'm not sure it was really needed. Time will tell.

always leave comment! at least they know why and how to improve their site, right?

peace come from inside your heart

  9. my answer for this poll: I sometimes leave a comment if I have a very strong opinion about a site

I do not like the new 30 chars limit; its annoying, especially if you like to write short comments which are to the point briefly. A lot of my "green comments" are shorter then 30 signs.

And it is not a real hurdle for those who want to spam scorecards, they can add e.g. "............."

Its possible that this change will discourage people to write comments (is this the intention by WOT!?)

    Trust: And it's gone!

  10. I tend to rate sites that have no comments or sites who's has not been rated by a lot of people.

This is not the intention. The idea behind the character limit is to encourage people to give more informative comments and also to explain their opinion in more detail in order to help other users decide if they can trust the site or not.

I'd like to reply, but i also don't want to let it become more off Topic. So let me reply that way:

A comment might be useful. If it contains information. If theres no restriction, it's easy to post your feelings, like "good" or "site is cool". These are comments, but imo no useful ones, and it could be covered with the categorie. If you have to post more words, its likely that you'll think twice and post more information. So it is useful!

When i started i assume my comments were shorter. But since i'm more active and understood how useful comments are i'm trying to give brief, understanable information, with a link to reliable sources, if possible. Even more important when using the luxuary of Mass Rating! :)

The only time that I do not leave a comment on a site is if it already has a lot of the same comments that I would make and it has been commented on quite often. Why comment on youtube.com or google.com? To leave the 40th comment "This site is not for children" seems to be a waste.

I normally leave a comment when I know the site is bad, but I may rate good sites as well. If it's not much of importance then I don't rate at all.

I leave a comment on almost every site I rate, so then if the site owner or a user wants to know why the reputation is high or low, then they can look at the comments.

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

I leave a comment if I feel I have something to add. Perhaps a site has a bad rating, but none of the existing comments detail exactly what the issue is. In such a case, I'll note what my concerns are with the privacy policy, reasons the site is untrustworthy, specifics of which browser exploit is being used, and maybe paste in some documentary evidence of it. If there's already 10 comments calling the site out for something like JS/Blacole droppers, I'm not going to add to the noise.
If I think the current prevailing rating is incorrect, I'll state why in the comments. If I'm the first to rate, and I'm giving a negative rating, I'll add a comment saying why.
I'm far more likely to comment if I'm leaving a bad rating, or if I disagree with an existing bad rating, than if I'm leaving a good rating.

    I sometimes leave a comment

Excluding use of MRT which requires comments, I may or may not leave a comment, depends upon:
    type of site
    site content
and most importantly my mood (/me looks at SF; that prerogative thing isn't restricted to females :)

Easier to find the bad traits than good.
I tend to comment on those sites that are suspicious.

I believe that the comments as «Site appreciated. Good luck» — a bad habit.

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

I always leave a detailed comment when rating RED, to allow the website owner to properly follow-up once the issues in question have been solved. On the other hand, when rating GREEN, I rarely leave a comment when I tend to agree with the majority of these, unless something noteworthy has been missed by existing comments.

The "minimum number of characters" is not an issue with me as I tend to be long-winded. ;)

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

I try to leave comments since a site owner that wishes to contest their site's rating needs to know who rated it, and it seems my ratings carry a lot of reliability juice. On the other hand, there is often not that much to say, or it may be a case where I can't provide too many details without compromising my anonymity. Then I'm just stretching out "comment spammer" to 30 characters without adding any real information.

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

It just occurred to me: if you only ever leave a comment if you are leaving a contrarian rating (ie where you disagree with the current rating), your ratings will always be worth nought. If you rate a site contrary to the ratings of - well, not necessarily more experienced - but "better" users than you - your impact on each site's score will be negated by our bayesian overlords :-)

RE: Last week we made a little change and now require scorecard

I wish you guys hadn't done that. Usually, when I run into spam on forums, I leave a bad WOT rating and a comment like 'Forum spammer'. I see no reason to stretch that to 30 characters or more when that wouldn't provide any more information.
