RE: How do you usually check the reputation of a website?

From the pop-up in the search results
When I am browsing, I find it most convenient
I have not seen any f/p when it comes to malware or viruses, but outdated rates, the greatest problem for me is in the few sites not ranked so far, as I visit through Google portals other countries, in particular Spain and Venezuela, sometimes I rate the websites, but my time is restricted to the degree that I have to leave the rating in order to get where I wanted to go
Take Brazil for instance, I made a purchase of some rare irises for my collection a few days ago, while browsing the local sites, I became more cognizant of this problem I feel at instances the stress of not having more members' rating local sites from other countries and in my opinion, language is no a major problem
And in a situation like that, WOT is not useful for checking any reputation, so I like to invite whoever is willing to rate some sites from another country, in particular if they have some similarity with their home country, to do so
    edit -
I like to add that maybe "other" could have been a better alternative, at least for me
Before I arrived to a final choice of finding the reputation of a site, I deleted three previous one

RE: How do you usually check the reputation of a website?

Mostly "From the homepage checkbox for logged in users",
... or the scorecard, rarely the search pop-up, before I actually visit an unknown site. Unless the site is recommended by another site I trust, I check it with several tools before I go there.

RE: How do you usually check the reputation of a website?

Voted: From the scorecard of a website

Checking reputation is not the same as viewing reputation.
If I use a search engine I can view the reputation from the search results.
If a domain is evaluated within these forums, I can see the link and if reputation is poor the link is not live, otherwise a pop-up to the scorecard is offered.

If I am curious and want to see why the reputation is at it's current state, I open the scorecard.
Usually I investigate the scorecard first within Firefox's search engine box using this

When you disagree with a site's reputation. Rate it. This is the only way that WOT can "work"
Do no sit on the side lines and wait for change to come when you have the add-on installed and are expected to be a player.

RE: How do you usually check the reputation of a website?

It really depends on the site. I check the results in all Google searches before clicking on the link. If someone sends me a link or if I hear about a site I will check the scorecard before visiting. I don't like toolbars.

Working to stop malware, viruses, and Internet fraud one web site at a time.

I use the Firefox addon - still has some bugs (like when you want to add a comment, the text automatically disappears and you have to type it all over again)

Problem I have is that the extension from Chrome seems to overwrite my reviews if I use it in combination with the site?

RE: How do you usually check the reputation of a website?

I use Chrome add-on. Checking and adding ratings through wot.com seems too time consuming. And I like that the add-on allows to see the rating next to the search results and other sites next to links.

RE: How do you usually check the reputation of a website?

I use the Firefox add-on and usually check the WOT button in the toolbar. If I have any reason to think that the site may not be as reputable as reported, I go to the scorecard. I particularly check user ratings and comments.

WOT is a tool that will become more essential as one of the key internet tools as more and more fraud is showing up.

SuperHero58 I think that is a great idea I have a lot of online friends from India,Indonesia,Egypt, etc. other than that I swear by WOT I use it in my search's as well as the tool bar & I recommend it to others all the time.

    HUGS LOVE & PEACE!
