RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

Rating sites can help others but it is useful since a large database of sites and any fraudulent activity associated with that site can be a very useful means of protecting one's personal information from criminals.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

I haven't been very active in rating websites in recent years, but definitely it's satisfying to help others when rating websites.-primary motivator no doubt. Considering the add-on is free it's also nice to make a contribution this way.

    Other =
Though I am surprised that the original idea "To make the Internet safer" was not mentioned
Next month is going to be six years since I started giving my opinion of sites, is being a long and winding road, some hard times, many sleepless nights, but the idea that through trust, we have made the "Net" much safer have made this journey a worthwhile effort
To make the Internet safer, for those who do not know, how dangerous the net can be, is my main motivation

Kindness is free, so I try 2 use it all of the time. I'm a white hat, so I do know how dangerous it is out there, especially on the dark net.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

    Increasing activity score
    Helping others
    I like the idea

Dumbfounded that WoT staff thought of only those three to list.

Personally if I was to have made the poll the first listed would have been: "Making the internet safer to surf."

Double face palm at WoT Team.

To be fair, some content on Wikipedia may be considered objectionable to some, but on the other hand, Wikipedia keeps their own site quite safe and secure.

Since when ones ask what motivates people to rate sites? Is that not clear why? Really?

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

I chose Other because while "I like the idea" of "Helping others" while "Increasing my activity score" I mostly do it because WoT is a valued security tool Just as much as an Ad-blocker is but unique in it's own way. Even children will find the color system of it easy to understand. While that doesn't mean all Green Sites are safe it does mean stay away from the red and yellow ones especially if on my computer! haha But yeah, all the reasons above! :)

My views and opinions are mine alone. Whether you agree with them or not is fully up to you. I won't deny facts and can admit when I am wrong and expect the same of you.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

I chose "Other" because I do all 3. Yes, "I do like the idea" of "helping others" while "increasing my activity score". It is like mutual symbiosis: both sides get a benefit. If only others also had the same mindset of getting benefit while also benefitting others...

    WOT Rocks!

I read my spam (and indeed, I blog about my spam, but in German, which is my native tongue) and I like it to warn as many other people as possible about spam and websites of spammers. It is good to make spammer's life a little less lucrative.

My "activity score" is just a number… and that binary option thing is just a big scam, driven by affiliate money paid from broker to spammer. Very similar to the former "casino" spams.

I was recently using a software to update drivers. After first one updated, I checked the software manufacturer's website in mywot. After that, I deleted the softwer, and I was glad, that my computer is still working.

"Other" ... I enjoy participating in positive community projects, especially ones that can potentially help rid the internet of some of the cesspool I have seen it slowly accumulating over the years.

WOT works best when a large number of people provide feedback on sites. This is like a neighborhood watch program We can all help look out for each other. Online safety and privacy are important to me; I share my knowledge and experience every chance I get.

I trust the website that sent me here, Quip, and I really hate seeing the red circle beside it. I don't seem to have any influence on the red circle, and will probably withdraw from WOT if I can't get rid of that.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

It seems obvious, but posting good or bad reviews, encourages others to do the same, which helps me when I go where I have never been before.

. 'No Reputation' is not a 'Good Reputation'! . Honorable is not necessarily competent; incompetent is not safe (some "Trustworthy" organizations have careless, lazy, or untrustworthy site coders. . Unpleasant, even offensive, might still be safe.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

There is nothing worse that seeing a site's WOT icon with no ratings. I tend to go to the green ones before the ones with no rating, I tend to avoid the orange ones and never go to the red. If more WOT users would rate the unrated ones, the better and safer the internet can turn out to be.
