RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

As part of the community I feel an obligation to rate sites I visit. Every addition to the database improves WOT's usefulness. As an older person with 49 years of computer experience I hope to use my knowledge to improve the database. Although I'm older than many of the contributers I'm actually fairly liberal with my site ratings. There are two perspectives to consider. One is the adult perspective and the other is the consideration of what is proper for children to view. I will think about what I would like for my granddaughters to see. I'm open to what others think and I'll review their comments when completing my ratings.

It's a mixture of helping others and increasing the score. I also try to change "grey" sites from what I found out through research to help anybody that comes across them know what they are dealing with. That's a big part of it.

I "Like The Idea", unfortunately it is becoming less useful for me as I can't seem to list the reviews by DATE. So I am continually looking at out of date comments. Would appreciate someone telling me how I can fis this glitch.

Could not agree more, BUT increasing your activity score is a well thought out motivation, to keep on going and not to eventually lose interest. Lets face it: After rating hundreds if not thousands of sites (and leaving scorecard comments) the whole process becomes VERY repetitive. But because this system stopped functioning for me quite a while ago (and as I understand, I'm not the only one that is affected), I openly admit, that after much work I'm becoming less and less interested. So please repair this soon, because this is not an issue, that happened yesterday, even not a week, nor a month ago, but lasts now for a couple of months.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

I see certain websites marked as dangerous when all they do is suggest an alternative to medicine such as diet. Those who rate the site typically find one tiny claim that's unproven (perhaps because it's impossible to prove). WOT should not be used to suppress the dissemination of ideas. I rely on WOT to tell me if a site will load malware on my computer or if it will steal my personal information -- such a site really is dangerous. A site that promotes a certain diet, for example, is not.

Thus, I tend to give favorable ratings to harmless sites that are deemed dangerous.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

It's discouraging to see so many reviews created for religious or political purposes. Those criteria have nothing to do with the quality of a site. Because someone disagrees with or dislikes (or agrees with or likes) a site should not affect one's vote about the quality. Discouraged that WOT does not screen the reviews more carefully. I've grown to not trust the WOT ratings as often they prove not to be objective. Too bad.

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

He has a high recommendation from the connoisseurs. All of us who are aware of the confidence that it gives to be qualified by
WOT, or at least have confidence among users, we rush to submit to the requirements. WOT and its criteria, considerations and orientations, is an added value for the sites

RE: What motivates you to rate websites with WOT?

If the site is good, people need to know about it, as they might want to go there if they think it has the potential to provide them with the help they are seeking, and if it's a Fraud, they need to be warned about it even more, as it could do them or their loved ones damage if they walk into it without knowing.
...and I almost forgot the most important. WOT helped me in the past in a great deal about this trap-site. I looked up the site in question on the internet. And the WOT Evaluation came in on the top of the list. It was so sharp that I never forgot this site. Especially, since members of my church went to the site I, personally checked b4 visiting. Many had their computers crashed, screwed up or something. That confirmed the WOT as an incredibly reliable source in this area. When ever I want to know about a web place I come here and now I have an evaluation of my own to post.
