Is anydesk.com Safe?

Do not let the negative reviews fool you, The domain www.anydesk.com is completely safe. what the older reviews explain is a type of cyber attack that happens over otherwise legitimate websites. Anydesk is a remote administration tool, what this means is it gives one computer the ability to control another computer. Unfortunately with some social engineering/manipulation many of these types of software are used globally by cyber criminals to steal information or highjack innocent people. This is not the fault of Anydesk but instead the criminals abusing the software. (eg. people calling you out of the blue claiming to be Microsoft) Anydesk is extremely useful to IT professionals or any person in a support desk role. It provides them the ability to repair computers remotely. The main tip of any remote administration tools is to only accept connections from people you know and trust.

Any Desk called me unsolicited and said they had charged my Visa account $300. and that I should call them back if I wanted this charge reversed. I called, and after telling me that they needed me to down load some of their software in order to get my refund, they told me to grant them full access to my computer. As far as I was concerned, this was an attempt to steal my private information and rob me. They never finished or verified the refund the said they were giving me. Any charges from Any Desk were not approved by me. Now I have to check all my credit cards and my bank to make sure there is no charge from Any Desk. Years ago, I had contacted them about a possible computer repair I needed. They never successfully fixed my computer, and I never approved any payment to them. Now periodically, they call me and keep trying to get full access to my computer. They say that they are in fact Microsoft. I have called Microsoft to ask about them and have been told that they are not legitimate. DO NOT TRUST ANY DESK, AND NEVER GRANT THEM REMOE ACCES TO YOUR COMPUTER. THEY ARE OUT TO ROB YOU!!!
