Is care2.com Safe?

After signing a petition, I made sure that I unticked the box to NOT subscribe to any newsletters/spam. Not only did I receive spam, but I also found out months later, that they had added weird things to one of my Google Calendars that I had to block, called actionalerts@care2.com. I do not know what it was for, or how they even added it. I Googled, but couldn’t find anything about why it would be there. The calendar was set to private and completely locked down, as it was my medical appointments and my script reorders. So it really creeped me out.

I never got spam from them, but you have to be carefull when signing petitions because on each petition there's a box (with very small letters next to it) for subscription that is by default checked (I think), so before signing the petition you have to uncheck this box unless you want to subscribe to the mailing list... And, if you forget to do this, you can easily unsubscribe because on the botton of each e-mail you receive there's an "unsubscribe" link. Next... I saw people complain that they've had problems logging in because it repeatedly says you typed the wrong password or email/username, when you haven't. And this has happened to me as well. I'm logged into the website on one browser, and on a different browser it doesn't let me log in with the exat same password and e-mail... Also, it's not really appropriate for children because you can stumble upon some gruesome images of animal abuse etc.

I see a lot of people complaining about spam emails here, but what are spam emails when the site is literally about saving human and animal lives? Who care about the spam emails the company needs to make the money to afford all the donations they give out anyway so they have to keep advertising its only naturual. The only problem with this site is the constant complaining over some emails.

This site consists of user posts with links leading to political, health & food, animal articles and petitions to sign...some photos are not intended for small children as they include animal and human abuse.  There are also links to Click To Donate sites which costs nothing but each click will garners donations to listed groups. This site is supported by ads...a lot of them.  You're covered if using AdBlock Plus and Ghostery.  If not, expect trackers in the thirties.

Spammer! Uses e-mail addresses harvested when "signing petition" to send spam with. I never, ever agreed to receive e-mail from this entity, but do even though I do NOT want it. I've tried to unsubscribe several times, but that has been quite unsuccessful. Their address is going into my Blocked List!!!
