I create an account on this site and not one day later what do I get? I scammer calling my phone number referencing information that he could have only gotten from my account on this site. I doubt careerbuilder itself is responsible for this, but keep in mind that scammers use your profile as a data mine.

I get emails for jobs unrelated to my profile and appear to be phishing for my personal info.

This is a site that spams your email with fake responses from your non existing account on their site in order to have you click and open the link they send.

Originally posted March 2013; updated December 2014: The careerbuilder site itself is Good, except for the features of protecting users from spam using the site. ***** Does Not Hide provided contact information from fraudster emailers --employment scammers or whoever they are--if you also wish to be contacted by non-fraudster employers, unlike many other notable job boards. Other notable job boards send the first contact from an employer using a email address of the same domain as the job board; whereas careerbuilder shows the resume poster's email address to emailers to then send emails from non-Careerbuilder addresses. The contact information protection options (called "Email Management Center" by careerbuilder) for setting up a profile on careerbuilder is: Public -- all the provided contact information is made Public, to fraudsters too, or Private (employers that are more legitimate and fraudsters do not see and have no way to contact the employee). This is contrary to good notable job boards which Hide the address (other than if the person puts the address somewhere besides in the email address field) and the job board then sends first contact from employers through a job board email address. AND The parent company of careerbuilder.com, Careeerbuilder LCC does spam by obscurity with another careerbuilder-owned site, workinretail.com. See: ***** Note: My recommendations for good job boards with better Hiding of contact information are sites like: simplyhired.com; indeed.com; dice.com; monster.com; etc

It's either: A shop or other that uses SPAM to his promotion (adverts), even famous brands, deemed reliable, do the same now, I've seen public services in any country to use SPAM for their advancement (tourism, trade fairs, shows, festivals, etc..), there is only a small step for hospitals, police, governments, schools, ... will go do the same too. A disaster of modern times now affecting other means of mobile communications (smartphones, tablets, SMS, etc..). Or if it's either: An address used for SPAM, endless new addresses (even the wacky, with a letter changed, weird word, numbers, .......) are created permanently to bypass filters, updated constantly, that harassed and antispam services put to block this scourge! Apparently this is the feast of site creations including fake sites for spam, scams, to sell us (legally or illegally) their products or services, and pollute the planet with electric resources wasted, thank you also HOSTS complaisant with the SPAM and the world of profit! One day, the number of Internet domains used for SPAM extensively exceed the number of useful internet domains, like the number of SPAM received which represents 90% of e-mails that are received in the world! Proof here: ***** /!\ A VERY IMPORTANT TIP /!\ : DON'T CLICK ON ANYLINK IN A SPAM, INCLUDING THE UNSUSCRIBE LINK, BECAUSE YOU WOULD CONFIRM THAT YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS IS VALID, TO BETTER SPAMMING YOU, SPAMS are very contagious with illegal resale data, unofficially legal in corrupt countries! REPORT DIRECTLY SUSPECTS E-MAIL, SMS OR CALL TO SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THIS PURPOSE THAT THE AUTHORITIES AND ASSOCIATIONS HAVE PUT IN PLACE TO COMBAT THIS PANDEMIC!

I tracked down this spam/scam company by searching in Google, using part of the spam they sent me. It matched exactly, including the odd syntax, only these sneaks didn't dare put their real business name in the spam. These guys are notorious scam artists and spammers.

This website is very unethical. Not only will you be spammed from advertisers, but you will also receive fake job postings. Either proceed with caution or go somewhere else.

I have used Career Builder in the past and have had no issues with the site. Great place to post your resume and find jobs that are in your field.

Edit #2: Changed my rating from SPAM to other (because I am not yet prepared to say it is a good site or good customer service since I had to contact them twice to get a good response) because it Seems that ***** is legit but has been spoofed by scammers trying to get people to apply for fake work at home jobs. Anyone else please check his comment here: http://www.mywot.com/scorecard/careerbuilder.com/comment-60732421 ======END==== I am disappointed in the email I just got from CareerBuilder.com but it seems it was spoofed when it was sent out and actually was sent from somewhere else. See ***** for more information (yes it is for another site but let me explain: I got a job offer email from CareerBuilder saying there was an opening for a secret shopper and to apply there was the application form attached in html format. The file (opened in a sandboxed environment for security reasons) turned out to be a simple page with a link to jobsinterviews.bix which is now shut down).
