AVG and AVAST flagged the MAC version of FileZila with Adware, I would recommend ClassicFTP with no addon's whatsoever. Stay away from FileZilla, I have used it for years but when my computer started acting up, and AVG said that something is up. I would recommend to stay away form FileZilla from all needs.
Installed AD-Aware WITHOUT asking. Don't believe the propaganda: They DO NOT ASK before installing potential mal-ware. Also overwrote New Tab and home page. Did ask, but with a "Yes" or "Cancel" option. Cancel what? The filezilla install?I will not be installing FileZilla in the future.
A great FTP program. Their installer includes adware, however it can be opted out of at installation. I'd recommend downloading the (official) adware-free version at Sourceforge for added convenience and peace of mind.
Filezilla is full with malware and virus. Many many installers out there will install add ons with trojans...even if you unclick them while the filezilla setzup is performed.
Filezilla still links to sourceforge as a recommendated download portal...however...there you get your virus!!!
Only poor excuses were made by the dev team.
Filezilla itself is a good program, but their installer is shipped with a lot of stuff that you don't want. Make sure you head to the "all download options" and download a zip instead of an installer. It seems like the Filezilla project is poorly maintained, their bug tracker is full of spam that has lasted for weeks and is not getting deleted. Obviously, no one from their "community" is willing to put some efforts into managing the programm instead of developing.
Filezilla allows it's software to be delivered and installed by Sourceforge knowing full well that Sourceforge installers contain adware and viruses. My client's PC got infected today thanks to Filezilla and Sourceforge. I can't trust either of these two sites anymore. Presence of adware in the installer can be confirmed via the user forum at the Filezilla Project website.
Installer is deceptive and installs unwanted programs like omiga plus. Filezilla itself is wonderful, this is about installer.
Asennusohjelma on harhaanjohtava ja asentaa ei-haluttuja ohjelmia kuten omiga plus. Filezilla itsessään on loistava ohjelma, tämä koskee asennusohjelmaa.
Love the programme, hate the installer. Longterm user of the software and found myself downloading a fresh copy on a computer yesterday. Next thing I know, multiple viruses and issues - half day's work. ***CAUTION*** DO NO DOWNLOAD FILEZILLA FROM THIS SITE.
Filezilla needs to act on this urgently or face the wrath of the online community.
This site/service is poor for one reason at least: because it doesn't offer the old download for Windows XP, and people (I know it's a bad idea security-wise but regardless) are still using Windows XP.
Not supporting Windows XP in the latest releases is a decision that had to be made at some point, fair enough.
However, for those willing to take the security risks; it costs VERY little to keep a link to the last-released version for Windows XP. Yet they don't. Why not cover all bases if it costs you so little, FileZilla team?
Also, as others have reported, I too have noticed the PUA (Potentially Unwanted Application) hidden in the official download from here and Sourceforge.
Incidentally, WOT says of my review:
"Other users may not consider your review credible, because you selected several unrelated negative things." Er, YEAH RIGHT, WOT, get a clue!
As if "Potentially Unwanted Programs" and "Poor customer experience" don't go together... "Unrelated", my rear end!
