The bad news?
It strikes out of nowhere. I consider myself very savvy and somehow this thing got past all my precautions.
The good news?
SuperAntiSpyware eats it for breakfast.
I installed the StartNow toolbar a while back and was a little worried because of several negative reviews that I read. I am pleased to report that I have had a positive experience thus far. Either StarNow changed the way it did things since those negative reviews were written or those negative comments were written by competitors to damage StartNow's reputation.
Uninstalling the toolbar and start page are as easy as following their simple directions. For anyone who is having a hard time finding the instructions, here they are - http://about.startnow.com/uninstall/
It is a simple as that.
This site has nothing to do with firefox. The people who are giving those comments are either really stupid or paid by this company. If this page has been set as your homepage you were probably never asked to do so. On that reason alone I have rated it low and given it an "Ethical issues" comment.
I can only speak for myself personally, but I have never had a problem with this site, have pretty good Avast protection and would have seen any warnings. Seems like a solid site to me.
I cannot for the life of me understand why this program is considered a bad program.
Firefox is great. Many, many people use this program over any other and with good
reason. It simply is the best!!!
StartNow is not a malware or spyware, you can customize your proper toolbar as you want, this is the kind of products which will help you to increase your search online !
It's just a portal for Bing.com searches. It isn't an "attack site" nor does it install any kind of malware. Honestly, I'm starting to think that WOT has no value the way so many sites get trashed by people making baseless accusations of them having malware.
