PS: according to torrentfreak the site does not add any more data as it was purely created to raise awareness: ***** "The site’s founders inform TorrentFreak that since this mission has now been accomplished, they have stopped adding new info to the site."

Don't kill the messenger! This site merely shows you what others already know about you, so _not_ a privacy issue (that's like saying FB is a privacy issue after purposefully posting all your pics and messages publically). However, the site is not "perfect" yet, and eg. does not list any torrents for me, though I torrent heavily (albeit mostly on not well known trackers).

Does not take transparent proxies in account: I get different results depending on whether I visit via HTTP or HTTPS.

While i agree that this site gives good insight into what people are doing, a note must be said about how an ip address is almost never the property of a user, and therefore if there are files your "ip has been spooted" downloading it basically means the isp chose to give someone else that ip before you, or if you have a dynamic ip (very common) anyone can get the ip when you're not using it/restart your modem/internet device. Also remember, all they're showing is DATA ANYONE CAN SEE without using that site.

For all people conplaining about "false positives", just think about your internet connection for a second. If answer to following question is yes, and you have given this site negative rating, you are simply stupid. The questin is - Do you have dynamic IP adress asigned by your ISP every time you log in to the network? And remember.. the site is not trying to say that YOU have downloaded/uploaded some torrent. It is trying to say that YOUR IP ADDRESS has been downloading/uploading it. If someone decide to iniciate a lawsuite, he has to proof that you were in control of that IP address at that time! This website is using PUBLIC informations from BitTorrent P2P network. And if you are stupid enough to link your IP with your real name from facebook... then there is no help for you.

é um site totalmente seguro e com objetivo claro.

Guys, the data isn't invalid. Most of you probably have a dynamic IP address, and someone else who has had that IP at some point downloaded that stuff.

Information is NOT valid. Do not believe anything of what this website is saying.

The purpose of this site is to show people how easy it is track p2p downloads and log IP addresses, as it shows information that is publicly visible when you join torrent. I frankly wouldn't trust anyone with this data, but they allow you to request your IP taken off the site. The site itself is not malicious.

Most of these comments and rating are retarded. The site explains everything it is and the reliability of the information. It doesnt need to "account for dynamic IPs," because there is no accounting to do. If it says an IP downloaded something, IT HAS. dont get all pissy because the information is now easily accessible by the public. if it says your current IP downloaded something you havent, who cares? The GOV wont use that site anyways, but they will get the same info. the only "hard" you could see is if someone you know personally sees something shady under your IPs history. Oh noes.

This site shows publicly viewable information. Seen information may be incorrect in that an IP is usually reset every 24h but that still doesn't make them a lie. Furthermore, they explicitly point that out. I really cannot comprehend the privacy concerns around here. It's just a messenger showing information which could still be easily collected when the site didn't exist. Collecting such information is done every day by big media companies without that site's help. In contrast, this site could be useful raising awareness of the users' own privacy, showing them how easy they could get trouble if they were too careless. Shooting the messenger, however, is just wrong - and in that case is most probably even counterproductive.

Nothing I can find shows this website as malicious. The database has some serious limitations. For starters, it may contain incorrect information because it doesn’t take into account that many Internet users have “dynamic” addresses that change from time to time. Also, many homes and businesses use routers that employ network address translation (NAT), which can hide multiple users behind a single public-facing Internet address, so that a single Internet address listed in the database may reflect file-sharing activity of multiple different users. *****

invasion of privacy

Well if they only include static IP's and do not bother with dynamic IP addresses, then it'll be a high probability of them tracking dynamic static IP addresses (yes you read correctly "dynamic static IP address"). Basically if this is the case then it is totally useless as someone can switch there IP when they choose when they disconnect and reconnect and will show invalid results in regards to static IP's. Also brings up security and moral ethics issues as well even if it is supposed to be a joke, since it makes IP addresses publicly available to which is just careless.

Uses similar tracking as counter-piracy companies, but doesn't try to sue you. The many incidents of false positives reported here should be informative in itself.

This site merely displays information also available to tracking companies and mainly exists to show people which information about their IP address is public. Sufficiently skilled people can access the published information either way, regardless of this website. Its purpose is not to expose people, but to educate them about privacy issues. It's mainly a demonstration; information might be incorrect due to not taking dynamic IP addresses into account.

Keeps records of different IP's and what they have downloaded over torrents. It might give false information since it also records dynamic IP's.
2
Site shows how easy it is for anyone to track your torrents and your downloads. It serves well to educate torrent-users about privacy- and security issues with torrent-technology. Limitation of used spidering technology are well described in FAQ.

I only shows the information thata you leave yourself in the internet.
