Don't let the catchy commercials on tv fool you- this website is NOT free. You have to sign up for a free trial and enroll with triple advantage. Trying to cancel is difficult and their service is very shady.
Their ads are annoying and misleading - nothing is free except 7 days. Then your stuck with their service unless you cancel. The correct site is anualcreditreport.com not this one for your free report.
I can't understand how anyone finds this to be a phishing scam. You clearly get one free credit report from Experian. If you want all three, you are notified that three will cost you. On occasions, you will receive offers to get $10 off the regular price. This site also provides lots of tools to analyze your scores and determine what positive changes you can make to affect your score. This is a great service.
As many others have stated, they're after a credit card number to charge within 7 days of your trial period start. Also, when I called to cancel service, it sounded like I was connected to someone's place of residence with a baby screaming in the background. All in all, pretty shady.
For those of you who are skeptics, don't knock it until you've actually tried it.
I read the fine print even before signing up. I knew there would be a charge following the trial. AnnualCreditReport.com seems to charge the same; not much of a difference between the two.
I have been signed up for a couple years. The site is actually pretty useful if you don't mind paying a relatively small amount of money to keep track of the most important aspect of your life (your credit -- at least for all of us non-millionaires this matters).
Although I should point out that the name is a little misleading. You can get a free credit report anywhere (the first time) but to truly monitor credit you eventually have to pay somebody (I'm talking real monitoring not the free yearly check that the credit beuro's offer).
This site is *NOT* fraudulent. They offer a free credit report with enrollment in their credit monitoring service. If you don't want the service, either use a different site like annualcreditreport.com or cancel the service after you get your credit report. They aren't hiding anything!
I use it quite often to check my credit and credit score. Never a problem. You're never required to pay for the site and you can cancel at any time. I've always received good customer service when I've come in contact by phone. You can run an updated credit report every month. A wealth of information on the website. I'm a security fanatic when it comes to personal info, and the site has been very secure. Recommended if you want to feel secure about credit and identity. A low fee to join.
This web site provides False advertisement it is not free. They want you to provide your credit card and tell you it will not be charged. But they do charge your credit card a 1 dollar "holding Fee" and return it to you after you finish getting the info. What about people who don't have credit cards???? I need a credit report in order to get a job. This whole thing is bogus.
