I signed up a couple days ago but I really should have done my homework first. I have been trying to get my money back every since and am being stonewalled.
Within the first 24 hours of being on the site, I received over 50 emails until I shut off the email notifications. This more than qualifies for spam in its own right. However, 95% of the contacts I have received through the site are either outright scams with names that include a phone number to text them, people who are hundreds of miles away who do not match with me at all or I with them according to our interests, or accounts that say they like me and are then apparently hidden and gone.
Add to this, the reason I am being told I cannot receive a refund for my foolishly purchased six month subscription. I was told because I sent a single message through their system, that I cannot receive my money back after 24 hours. This is rubbish. Not just on general principle, but because of the way this site operates. That message may never ever get read. You must pay to view your messages and so they try to get more subscriptions at the expense of their customers.
I got spammed with this, with a link that sends me to match.com:

I have not had good experiences on Match.com. i have even had friend's with bad experiences. One girl met a guy, they talked for a long time. They planned to go out, but there was a snowstorm. The guy said, let's just do web sex. Don't trust the people on there.
broad exposure to potentially unwanted invites, where it is only possible to realize you personally are dealing with the same individual.
please be sure to apply external control on Match.com access to electronic funds.
Match.com was notified by mail that the business would not be allowed to EFT from me, but in weeks following, the group attempted to debit my checking account. This was to disregard what was asked of them after the profile was de-activated too.
I have no problem with online dating. I have never been an active online dater, but I have signed up, and boy do they send you emails ALL THE TIME!
The constant emails might be the biggest factor of why I don't use the service. It's very discouraging. The constant reminder comes off as desperate. I would go ahead and say, that is the one trait you would not want from a dating site.
I picked the "Option of Other" Category because I don't have anything good or bad to say about Match.com other than they don't prove that they are as great as they claim to be in their paid advertisements, if they can't give a free 30 day test drive, it would seem to a lot of folks that they are maybe hiding or not telling the whole "rest of the story" TTT said that. I do not have any real experiences with Match.com because I have not gave them any money. I am only choosing a "category" per WOT's request at this time, I AM TRUCKERTWOTIMES World Famous Always, Always World Famous.
I must say these folks do spend money on advertising, but they won't let you peak under the cover, they want "MONEY" without showing you what they actually have as far as seeing if what they say they have is for real, they need a test drive period of at least 30 days if they are as legit as they advertise to be TTT told ya that.
Will bombard you with 'Someone has viewed your profile' and 'Someone has added you to your favourites' emails until you give in and pay for a subscription then, funnily enough, all those emails dry up and, seemingly, *no-one* wants to view your profile. Funny, that.
There's lots of spam from this website, especially if you fill out the application form without checking every single paragraph, but if people are looking for a match on Facebook, there's nothing wrong with match.com from that perspective.
