I find this site to be unethical in how it evaluates. It does not review all comments but basis its evaluation on the first comments received. Management of the site is not transparent but rather seems to be invisable and behind the scenes censures based on management own bias This site should be shut down Again THIS SITE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN

We don't base reputations on the first ratings we receive, that would be absurd. Please note that ratings are not comments and they're not considered equally reliable, which might be confusing. You may want to learn how the rating system works here: http://www.mywot.com/wiki/FAQ Unfortunately, you neglected to mention which site's reputation caused your outburst. Based on your scorecard comments, it's probably rayhould.com, but that site doesn't have a reputation at all at the moment, so it's hard to imagine the problem. Anyway, you may want to start a forum thread about whichever site's reputation upset you and request more reviews.

I thought WOT would help me protect my computer from REAL spam sites that damage or phish or try to install a virus on my computer. Instead it slams every new site because of ignorant comments by people who do not understand what spam is, who do not know how to click an unsubscribe link in an email, or who think the topic is "nonsense" and so slam it unfairly. To me, WOT's ratings are a pathetic joke. Even my own site, which had nothing to sell and certainly was not designed to phish for people's email or spam anyone, had a bad rating for a long time because no one had rated it and, later, got a "spam" comment because someone disagreed with my opinions. Even worse, this plug-in is an annoying time waster with all its popups that won't stay closed unless I disable the settings. From the way people carelessly fling around the word "spam" in WOT'S rating comments, I'd say WOT "spams" me with unwanted warnings that are bogus. I am disabling my wot settings and getting rid of the WOT plug in. It sounded like a good idea, and I gave it a year-long trial, but the idea has been poorly executed. I've put up with this nonsense long enough. I am disabling my wot settings and getting rid of the WOT plug in. I'm done with it.

WOT tells you how much people trust websites, and some people may disagree with you about the trustworthiness of astrology etc. It also sounds like the sites that have been marked as spam were blacklisted for spamming. You didn't mentioned which website was your own, but I suspect the same thing happened there. You may want to read this: http://www.mywot.com/wiki/FAQ#But_I_don.27t_agree_with_a_reputation.21 Anyway, if you disagree with a reputation, you can stop the add-on from "spamming" you with warnings by rating the site yourself. This will not only help adjust the reputation, but also stop the add-on from bothering you. If you suspect a site has been misrated, you can start a thread about it on our forum and request others to review it.

Take a look at some really popular sites, including this one! Do a search on them...EVERY SITE has good and bad comments. But it's really funny when you see a company have a big growth spurt - here comes a rush of people ready to knock it down at all costs. People, be your own judge. Remember that many others leave comments at a time of frustration, when they are upset or unsure.... Don't let others mislead you!!! Have an awesome day!

Sami - Thank you for your reply. I have read the links you have posted that lead to your FAQ pages, and still do not agree with the practices of MyWot.com. I see that you STATE in the FAQ's that MyWot.com uses a system that is not as subject to spamming as other sites in order to bring the rating of a website up or down, and that MyWot.com goes based on how a MyWot.com user rates the sites and interacts with the MyWot.com site that he or she visits, thereby increasing their influence of any rating on any particular site. My quarrel is not against that, although I do not agree that a robot or "system" (which you seem to be using to determine a users credibility) can be accurate in determining what is "human" like behavior because every single person has different viewing and rating habits. This has become evident in a recent rating of two particular sites, where even some of your MyWot.com users have accused members rating those sites to be spam or repetitive posting by a few members. I am unsure how MyWot.com can state they are doing any member of its community justice and not have some tracking device that would immediately track this sort of scenario. Instead, MyWot.com seems to rely heavily on the rating habits of its users and not much more. That in turn leads me to my next point, MyWot.com clearly states that a members influence is NOT linked to the amount of sites that they have rated -- but solely to the specific algorithm/system that your site uses to determine the rating pattern. But, it would seem, unless you are using some generic rating pattern to compare any given users habits, that the more the user rates sites, the closer in proximity that user is to the algorithm that you are using, the better their influence on any particular rating is...this is in fact unfair. I find this even more unfair when any particular user has not used the site in question. I also find it particularly peculiar that the number of ratings are not shown for reasons of privacy that you've mentioned in your quoted response to me that leads to your FAQ's page. I have grounds to believe (based on MyWot.com's skewed rating tactics) that this is because there may be far less negative rankings on any negatively ranked site than there is positive rankings but the site in question clearly has a negative overall ranking...this in turn will cause some serious questions when it comes to how sites are ranked and the actual reliability of MyWot.com. I also find it highly suspicious that MyWot.com is paid by or "partnered" with some companies that have high reviews/ratings. Although your site states that a paid seal does not have any bearing on a site, I highly believe that to be untrue. Members here value the seal and see it as an approval from MyWot.com itself to trust that site -- this is unjust because the seal was paid for and MyWot.com or any of its staff may not have used the site in question personally. You also mention that the seal is only applicable to sites that have a positive rating, but the positive ratings may still be in fact driven by members who have not really used the site because they closely match some generalized algorithm developed by the MyWot.com staff to resemble "human-like" behavior and therefore may nor be a valid ranking and could lead to potentially harmful sites. Do not get me wrong, I am highly into sites that are user driven. I am apart of a review site much like MyWot.com, but the difference is that real live HUMANS view what members post and give their ranking that way. New members are not treated like they have no voice, and all members are weighed the same. However, on my favorite review site, those who do not have a grounds for their comment or rating are subject for review and ratings and members are removed or suspended from posting with the comments being removed. I respect that site -- I have a hard time seeing the same merit in MyWot.com. Please correct me in any wrong sightings above because I would love to see the value in ratings on the MyWot.com site, but even your FAQ page is giving a lot of information (words) but it is not really saying much at all about the practices used by MyWot.com. It seems to say "No we dont' do that" but doesn't really state what it is you are doing to provide value to your members. To me, this is where the real secrecy is, and not within some of the sites presented. Thank you,

MyWot.com is a site that allows its users to rate sites. This is perfectly fine. However, site ratings can potentially be highly skewed. Users of MyWot.com influence on ratings tend to increase per the amount of sites that they rate. In some cases users are rating sites that they have had no personal knowledge of using, whether this be in a more positive direction -- or at most, a more negative direction. This is highly unfair. MyWot.com should not only focus on a members "rating" count to determine how heavily that person's rating is, but more so on a personal usage approach. For example, if I was to rate a site as a member who has rated 100 sites in the past year a "Very Poor" in all categories even though I have never used this site. My rating would carry much higher than someone who may have rating 10 sites in the passed year "Excellent" who has actually used the site that is in question. This practice is unfair. It allows potentially harmful sites to be trusted by members, and at the same token, it will deter users from using a site that could be great, seeing negative ratings from those that may not have actually used the site. MyWot.com also allows a website to be negatively marked without the notification the company in question. A simple email to the website in questions support would suffice. MyWot.com, however, chooses to have the company reputation be downgraded by users who have not used the site, and expect them to "find out" how they can combat the rating. I do not think that MyWot.com uses a total fair practice and needs help with creating a better algorithm to assist them in becoming a site with more integrity. Thank you.

Sorry but opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one. In this day an age people can make or break anything or anyone just by saying anything they want. Electronic media can contact thousands of people and can crash a website, cause major destruction and other mayhem. You should know this it happens every day.
