Please ignore the comments about "people being able to post anything they want." Fake information gets fixed within minutes of being posted and their accounts are banned. Its also clear to see when info is wrong (Ex. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egypt once said "Egypt is located inside of my belly".)
People lock down pages that get spammed so that only legit info stays. Very good site for mostly any info you need! Still no ads, just beware of the reference links!
Pretty much all that has been said below. One thing I would like to add, though, is that anyone can search anything they want... so some pages are a no-no for children.
Great site, contains a lot of useful information. May not be completely safe for children, I gave it a low score there but I see my votes are not influencing the general rating at all. I wonder why is that...
I've found health information from this site to be very biased. It seems to be written by individuals who have financial incentives to promote their own industry while discrediting others. This makes the site lose credibility.
No doubt there are many security and trust issues surrounding wikipedia, but so far it is the first site we turn to when you we need information on anything raging from blood cells to the latest movie. Thumbs up!
it is informative indeed, but the fact that everyone can update the entries makes me somewhat suspicious. I would prefer that experience researches do the research.
Wikipedia is not child friendly - but has a lot of great information. Responsible parents should work with their children to help them research things because there is a much content that is probably unsuitable for younger readers. I'm not suggesting that wikipedia change - but that parents should be cautious about some of the content.
